Victory is within our sight

Congratulations to Dev Whatmore, Khaled Mahmood and the boys. We certainly achieved a moral victoy, the real victroy is with in our sight. The so called honest captain of Pakistan has been handed over a five match ban and Rafique has been praised by the cricketing world by his sprotsman ship. We fought tooth and nail in the series (despite some typical suicidal shot by our star batesmen, which eventually cost us the 2nd and the 3rd match). No body is talking about one day test match any more. This is a moral victory , the real victory should not be far way.

I like to share few observation here.

In 1979 - 80 (the period could be wrong)Pakistan team played a 3 day match in Dhaka against BD team. Abdul Quader was the bowler. I forgot who was batting on te other end. All on a sudden he took an orange from his pocket and bowled at eh batesman with that in stead of with the real ball. Every body started laughting at teh 'fun'. Well it was not a fun. It was an insult the opponent. I was not surprised at the arrogant attitude from Pak team, but stunt by out own attitude to not to challange such an insult.

The night before the Scotland - Bangladesh match in 1999 world cup, Ramiz Raza was comntrating on Sky sports, he was asked to predict about the out come of the match. He said "I hope Scotland will win for the sake of spreading of Cricket in this part of the world". And yet out current team manager is only to happy to give interview in Pak media in his former master's native language.

More than 80% of our people support Pakistan as their 2nd favourite team and yet Pakistan never showed respect to our team, except for once when Wasim Akram praised our boys' performance against his team in their famous victory in 1999 world cup.

After the 2nd test the 'honest' Pak captain said that his team just gave bangladesh some oppurtunity, and the BD team played negatively. Although we gave his a half lesson for his arogance, we would have been happier, if he could have been taught a full lesson. Let us hope our boys roar in some of their ODIs.

Let us not forget Ehsan Mani's recent comment.

Let us not forget the 'honest' pak team's "economy plus" class air travel.

Congratulation to Mohammad Rafique in making us proud by showing such a sportmen ship. Cricket is a gentle man's game not about wining by ugly attitude. What the ICC is thinking about Asoka Di Silva? I am not talking about this match. Each and every mach he stood in a mach while BD was playing, I can't remeber a fair lbw decision agaist our boys. Can we call it an honest mistake when it happens every time. Yes, the lbw decision against Shabbir Ahmed was unfair, but what about scores of unfair decision agaist us?

By the way, who was the man of the series in tournament? Or was it not decided because Habibul Bashar stood a fair chance for that? (Although the only reason I can see him not to be awarded the man of the match award is for his suicide in all six ocassions). I have reason to suspect the 'honest' Pak team might have interfared with the pitch on the 3rd evening. Well, I don't have evidence, but many in world cricket would suspect the same.

Nevertheless, let us remain positive, let us keep focused. Victory is within our sight. Insa Allah it will happen in this series. Not next time, not in the next series, the time is now. You have already made us proud.
