Not one Ranger in Monty Pythons "... and the Holy Grail"... BTW in Germany this movie is called "Knights with Coconuts" aka " Ritter mit den Kokosnüssen"... Anyway there could be good ideas for a paladin which tend to be far away from that pansy Oh-am-I-such-a-good-Knight habits... Like this: Imagine a Samurai Paladin with a Winged Snake as a mount. I know it is a nightmare for any DM, but who cares a DM anyway, he should be suited with the Samurai Kit from the Fighters handbook... Nevertheless I allways would prefer a Ranger in trade of a Paladin, some juvenile ranger grown up among foxes is much more fun to play with, or a real Champion whos fighting abilities can even match with one of a seasoned Fighter... Normally I tend to stay away from making comments here but sometimes ya just have to give a shout out... I personally wouldn't be a ranger or a paladin but rangers are more fun to play with... and by that I don't mean in a game... so to speak... well not in the traditional sense... then again... Anyhow I tend to think or it this way "if a ranger and a paladin were here with me now who would I have more fun with?" Well since it is kinda late and I am in my pajamas at this point the paladin, who wouldn't even look at me in my pj's, went to bed an hour ago as all good paladins would be and the ranger is looking for a warm place to sleep since he has no place of his own... puts a whole new spin to it and you see things in a clearer light... well at least for me... (2) They can have good relations with more than just their horse... (3) They don't have to give away everything, just what they can't carry... (4) They don't have to yell "Hiho Silver Away" when leaving a village... (5) They are always at home in the outdoors, where 90% of the game is usually spent.. (6) They can track, find food and survive; when the Paladin is still trying to get out of his Field Plate... (7) They can hide if they are outclassed; rather than charging in suicidially.... (8) They aren't referred to as "Don Quiote" (9) If dropped on their back, they don't tend to resemble a turtle... and the #10 answer: THEY CAN USE RANGED WEAPONS! Have a nice day. |
