I already said earlier that I like Crosby more, he's a great Canadian kid but I can't let my patriotism blind my hockey instinct, Ovechkin is better now. Will Crosby be better years down the road......maybe. I guess we'll have to wait and see. As for the other comments I like the point about what Crosby has done since Lemiuex went down....tell us alot now doesn't it hansel97. What a spaz!

Makes me wonder how many people actually watch hockey. Ovechkin definitely gained a lot of experience playing in the Russian elite league, World Cup of Hockey and the World Championships, but the Russian elite league, if you ever watched a game, is very defensive and the quality of players aren't as great. There is an unbelievable amount of clutching and grabbing in that league, and that is why guys like Lecavalier and Heatley had trouble adapting to the game over there. Hansel, you are arguing about the future which no one can predict. If the sole indicator of who is better right now is based on potential, then I can throw in my 10 year old kid brother as the next Gretzky. Rookies don't necessary get better in the future either, just look at Daigle and Selanne. Although Selanne is still a superstar, he hasn't reached his rookie totals ever since. I do feel that both Crosby and Ovechkin will get better each year and Crosby will eventually be better than Crosby, but just not RIGHT NOW. Now offensively, you could argue either way who is better. What separates Ovechkin and Crosby is their defensive play. Ovechkin is much more defensively responsible than Crosby right now. That doesn't mean Crosby won't learn to play defence, but he isn't as complete as Ovechkin is RIGHT NOW. Crosby has only 2 assists since Lemieux went down, not to mention getting shutout by the worst team in the NHL last night. Maybe Lemieux does help out Crosby's production, not necessarily directly, but teams can focus on shutting down one line (Crosby's line) now that Lemieux is out.

Posted By: gtbiker350 Posted On: Dec 14, 2005 Views: 1330	Crosby vs Ovechkin As far as points, Crosby has been playing with Mario, Gonchar, and Palffy and still has less numbers than Ovechkin...who is on the worst team in the league with no one to play with (Kolzig doesn't count). Also, it is true that Crosby has gotten more experience playing in the AHL...I don't believe that Russian leagues are remotely as good as the ones here, so Ovechkin is coming from a similar background. Hands down I think Ovechkin is the better of the two at this point.

And still Crosby is right near Ovechkin in points?? Please. You can dismiss the Elite league point all you want, but if you do, it just shows the limitations of your hockey knowledge. Your Crosby hating has obviously blinded you to the truth. Suck it up, and face the facts. CROSBY IS BETTER.

Dis is ****in Hockey and Ovechkin is better now hands down....Will Crosby be better later on probably but now means now not later on. Plus Ovechkin might be 2 years older, but remember this is his first NHL experience as well. I know, I know, Russian elite this Russian elite that. Don't try and tell me that Ovechkin got much experience from that league when the best of the best from there are in the NHL. Save it.....

You can't chastize him for being a minus player at this stage of his career. My god, look at Lemieux his first year. Minus 35. And those who say that Ovechkin is better are wrong. At this stage of his career, perhaps he is, but give Sidney 2 years of pro experinece playing with MEN (like Ovechkin had playing in the Russian Elite league), he will be way better than Ovechkin is now, at that stage of his career.

Some facts about crosby: The kid is playing on a line with Palffy and Recchi or Lemieux both had been plus players in the last 5 years. This year, recchi is -20ish and pallfy is 0, while crossby himself is -9. The guy is way too offensive minded and doesn't care how many goals will be scored against his team when he is on the ice. Crosby isn't going anywhere. If he even gets close to Forsberg, thank god for it. The kid could not even win the championship for his team in his old qmjhl hockey league or whatever it was called, lost in the finals and got shut down by some newbie defenseman. With so many penalty meinutes, being such a minus player is just sad.
