where's Disney on the list?

It was hard to pick just one. Disney should be included on the list.

disney is awesome...and one of the best companies to work for. they help our economy out a huge amount, too. i'm not sure if that's why todd didn't put them on the list, but i figured i'd add my two cents anyway ;)

It's one of the worst companies to work for, actually. What exactly do you find awesome about their redundant formulaic storylines?

I'd like to know where this is coming from. I went to the Disney World Animal Kingdom Resort and they had employees there from all over the world. Disney sends them here, pays them and gives them free education. Many of them went on and on about the great opportunities Disney gave them. They thought it was the best company in the world to work for.

um, well, i have worked for them. where do you get your "worst companies to work for" info from? i have other family/friends that work/worked for them also, and love it. they have great benefits and offer employees endless opportunities. there's always room to move up, too. as far as their storylines, most of their movies i find to be well done and amazing in their animation.

but, i didn't want to make this into an argument over movie preferences. i was simply speaking about the company.

Sorry, I was more talking about Disney animation. I knew people in art school who told about the horrors of working for them. But the theme park could be totally different.

RE: where's Disney on the list?

yea, that's true. they've gotten rid of most of their animation staff. the only way they're kind to animators is if you're really talented, are gifted in writing/vocal talents/other non-animation areas, and are personable. that's why chris sanders (writer/main voice/main animator) for lilo and stitch did so well. a lot of it is luck at your ideas being heard, too, i guess.

yea, the parks and cruise lines and stores are great to their employees. the training is hell, but once you're out, as long as you don't slack, life is good.

Disney's 2D animations have been going poorly at the box office. Chicken Little was their first 3D animation feature film and that flopped. All the other 3D films they distributed were created by Pixar. The Eisner led Disney tried to screw Pixar so they decided after their 6 picture deal is over they will find a new partner and broke of discussions with Disney. That large revenue loss was enough to finally get Eisner fired as CEO.

disney is now in negotiations with pixar to buy the company. it had a lot to do with disney not just wanting distribution benefits. now, my understanding is that they might own pixar within the next few months of negotiations.

Nothing will ever beat what the Walt Disney did before he died. He was a classic.

I like most of the new Disney stuff (some of it sucks). I also like Pixar stuff. I don't care about the business part of it as long as they keep producing some good movies. Whatever business moves Disney makes, I still don't think they are evil. I think the company treats it's employees well, which holds a lot of merit.

I see they have announced the purchase. Normally I would figure Disney would now ruin Pixar as they have in the past with other acquisitions, but this deal puts Steve Jobs on the board and Lasseter as CCO. That hopefully will give Pixar enough clout to keep Disney from screwing things up. Pixar has done over 3 billion in sales from the last 5 pictures so hopefully they let them just do their jobs and keep their mouse ears out of things.

Isn't Disney owned by Buena Vista? And isn't Buena Vista owned by Viacom? And isn't Viacom owned by Clear Channel?

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: where's Disney on the list?

probably right! In that case, problem solved-- it already is on the list... I don't like Disney because they are so huge, and that's the liberal side of me talking, mostly.

RE: where's Disney on the list?

Disney owns Buena Vista and used to own Viacom. Clear Channel now owns Viacom.

I used to work at the orginal Mouse House (disneyland), and got screwed by them and the union they were paying off.

Walt Disney was a brilliant mind, but extremely racist, anti-union, conservative, and anti-feminist.
