Monsanto

I recently purchased "trident" gum. hmm. I checked the ingredients after the purchase instead of before. I never heard of xylitol so I searched it on MSN. xylitol is ok and actually very good in an all natural gum. xylitol can strengthen your teeth and prevent cavities. Its the BHT and ASPERTAME that is so bad. BHT is a bad preservative that can cause cancer. Aspertame is THE WORST thing ever - it should never be in food - it will damage your brain and it causes ADD - you know? Attention deficit disorder? Monsanto bought off every - one to prevent disease. It isn't profitable to cure or prevent disease. They made a deal with the FDA people (who happen to be there because of Democats being in power for too long). That deal is to let disease keep going so they can make money... They're all being sued by someone who wrote a book about this. Its an info-mercial on the TV - the book is about what doctors etc. don't want you to know about. So get an all natural gum that has the Xylitol and no BHT or aspartame. Just because they write all over the package about how great and natural Xylitol is doesn't cancel out the BHT and aspartame. And if you do not believe me you can do an internet search yourself..the research from Sweden is astounding about chewing gum.

RE: Monsanto

I saw this on the internet a while back and did some research of my own. I was concerned because I do like the aspartame-containing products. I do a lot of research with my work and trust the published papers in PubMed. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

This abstract of a publication sums it up best for me:
INTRODUCTION: Artificial sweeteners are nowadays inevitable food additives, since they provide necessary food diversity to people suffering from diabetes. Aspartame is the most frequently used artificial sweetener ever and its safety profile is much better than that of saccharin or cyclamate. It received marketing approval in 1973, but only 3 months later aspartame was withdrawn because of allegations based on improperly designed experimental studies dealing with its carcinogen effects on rodent brain. However, extensive studies using the same model did not confirm such suspicions, and aspartame received a second marketing approval. EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES: Almost two decades later an epidemiological study found a relationship between aspartame and an increased frequency of brain tumors in humans. However, this study included a short time span of observation, and it did not estimate actual intake of aspartame, which led to loss of validity. Later on no epidemiological studies found correlation between aspartame use and incidence of brain tumors in humans. Up to now the only safety concern about aspartame, which received valid scientific proofs, is pro-seizure action of its excessive intake. In patients with epilepsy, excessive intake of aspartame can decrease the threshold for seizures or prolong them once they appear. However, if the intake is not above the recommended level of 40 mg/kg b.w./day, aspartame is well tolerated even in this subpopulation. CONCLUSION: Based on detailed analysis of published studies on safety of aspartame, it should not be restricted, but used in recommended amounts.

I believe it's safe and still eat it...no problems!

The infomercial book you're talking about is the one written by Kevin Trudeau, right? I don't think that's a very reliable source to be quoting. That guy was fined by the Federal Trade Commission for fraud and sued because he stole credit card numbers from his own customers after they ordered his products. He's crook and a liar.
