| Posted By: James Posted On: Jan 29, 2006 Views: 1292 | Religion Religion, where do I start? How about this. Follow which ever one you wish, just don't push anyone into believing as you do. Let them make up their own minds. Inform them, but never look down or harm because they don't see things as you do. We are all meant to be different. You cant change that. You may be wrong. They may be wrong. I grew up in a Christian home. I started to question things I was told when someone else has a different interpretation on the same text. You have to stop reading into the text what you think is there, and read only the words as they were meant to be read. As they are, an example for people on how to live their lives, and history as to what was. Not the concrete way everything must be done. How many sects and versians are there on this one book? You have to think for yourself and not what the pastor tells you. Remember, he's there to make a living, selling you words. I suggest you read the bible, like every great book, but apply reason while your doing so. Unlike reason, faith and feelings provide no boundary to limit any delusion, any whim. They are a virulent poison, giving the numbing illusion of moral sanction to every depravity ever hatched. Again, I could be wrong in how I belive, but hear this. If whatever god is out there besides that I am to be punished for not following to the letter a book written by people who heard the words, from someone who heard the story, then changed by a church trying to keep a wanning control over it's people, and not written or told by the god it's self, then I was to be punished anyway. I am pagan. I don't know the correct word for my religion, as it has been lost, as have most of the teachings. I belive that we are meant to live out our lives to the best of our ability, to learn as much as we can, and to help others if we can. |
