Posted By: GirlUWant Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1281 | Gas Prices So what is up with the gas prices where you live? I lucked out and paid $2.12 yesterday, but there were places that I saw just a mile down the road that had already jumped up to $2.23, and guy told me that in OKC he saw it for $2.35 two days ago. I hear that Thursday it is supposed to shoot up big time...:-( |

Posted By: frank Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1261 | RE: Gas Prices Society would be far better off if the gas prices doubled or tripled. Infrastructure would have to be altered, accomodating small business and entertainment which would thrive at a local level. Strip malls and mega-grocery stores would disappear. People would focus on their communities. Americans would not have a problem with weight because people would walk more and have less access to fast food restaurants. There would be far less pollution. People would grow stuff in their yards. |
Posted By: James Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1258 | RE: Gas Prices Yea, that would work for the people like me out on the fringes of a small town. But how about the people in New York, or other big cities? |
Posted By: zana bee Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1254 | RE: Gas Prices $2.35 at Quick Trip... the cheapest place in town. It's been right around that price for about 6 months now. Frank has some good points, but it would take years or even decades for major metro areas to adjust to his scenario. Phoenix is a city where you HAVE to have a car. "Close" means it's less than 5 miles, which isn't exactly walking distance... especiallly when it's 110 degrees outside. |
Posted By: zana bee Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1250 | Question Why is it some people throw a fit when you buy an energy-efficient foreign car, saying you're giving money to the Japanese? BUT they purchase an American car that is not energy efficient, thus sending more money to the middle-east. The money is going out of the country either way... I'd rather not give it to the oil-rich nations. Does anyone else see this as illogical? |
Posted By: James Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1241 | RE: Gas Prices If it has to go out then I'd like to see it headed to Japan and China. They are producing better and better technology, much of it can be used to make better, more efficient products, including cars. Eventually, soon and peacefully I hope, most of the world will be under one rule. Thanks to technology it's now inevitable. Our generation will shape how that new government works. Ops, almost started a government rant there. Anyway, the only problem with battery cars is the energy used comes from power plants, so it doesn't really solve the problem, and you have to charge it constantly. A company in Japan has developed a battery that self charges, it's small and used in some toys now. If that can be enlarged then there you go, but good luck as long as everyone wants that oil money. |
Posted By: GirlUWant Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1239 | RE: Gas Prices A lot of Japanese cars are built in the US...Toyota and Honda for sure...my Mazda was built in Japan, though...and some American cars are built in Canada and Mexico, so there you go...an excellent choice would be a Toyota Corolla! |

Posted By: adam Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1210 | RE: Gas Prices "I hope, most of the world will be under one rule" yeah, good idea. |
Posted By: wee Posted On: Jan 31, 2006 Views: 1208 | RE: Gas Prices a self-charging battery? cool! so how exactly does that work, James? toyota corolla is the best... but maybe I'm only saying that because I have one. |
Posted By: James Posted On: Feb 1, 2006 Views: 1191 | RE: Gas Prices Would you care to explain my idiocy, or are you just shooting stuff out your ass? It's been quite some time since I've gone over my plan to unite the nations, and I took quite a bit of **** for it (here anyway). I don't want to go through the trouble of typing all that again for you guys. Only one person here now would get it anyway. I'm tempted to put it all up just for that one person. Little wee wee , I don't know how that works. If I did I'd not be sitting here wondering how I was going to come up with the money to fix my eyes. |
Posted By: James Posted On: Feb 1, 2006 Views: 1188 | RE: Gas Prices Sorry, that last bit about the name was sad. |
Posted By: wee Posted On: Feb 1, 2006 Views: 1185 | RE: Gas Prices please explain your plan for world domination, James, I would like to read that. and I think I know the answer to the battery question - it runs on perpetual motion, a self-charging battery would not imply anything else |
