| Posted By: Iain Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 882 | one man for me (oo-er) El Gordo - the big one! Every ball he hit was a goal. Appologies to my team as I picked the teams based on current form, not realising that Gordo was going to have a ripper of a game. He was backed up by the hard work and quick breaks from the Si-Man as well as good passing play from Craig, Donny and Tamba. Nice fitbaw! In our team, I thought we had some good link up play with Big Dave and Stu combining well. Gordo said this morning that Big Dave thought the level we played at last night was much higher than the last time we played. Better passing, less folk just running around after the ball, more shape and poeple looking for the pass. It's nice when someone comes in that hasn't seen us play for a while and has good things to say about us! Well done chaps! |
| Posted By: si Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 878 | PASS!!! oh, good goal... There really can only be one man who gets the vote this week, and not just because we're only allowed one vote each. Gordo was magnificent in attack, always screaming for the ball when in space or scoring innumerable times, but he was also good in defence, darting across the wings to cut out the blues' shots. Quite a remarkable effort, and I'm glad he was in my team. Also, if memory serves, I think we even linked up a couple of times. Unheard of. Iain also played well for the other team, being full of running and he managed to block quite a number of our attacks by appearing out of nowhere. Well played fella, just not quite as well played as Gordo. |
| Posted By: stuart Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 876 | close call gordo, for the first half hour anyway, could not miss - every funking shot screamed in to the net. we tatties were perhaps a bit guilty of not closing down the shot but bravo to gordo anyway. however he did not get my vote. i chose si who from start to finish put in a top shift and made and scored many a goal. well done young man. bring back Current Results link!! how else will we reach the dizzying heights of the earliest comments being viewed six billion times? |
| Posted By: Karl Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 872 | MOTM Got to be Gordo for me. How many bloody goals did he score from long range, must have been in the double figures!!? Is there not something in the small print of the rule books that bans him from playing for a month or something? |
| Posted By: David Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 863 | MOTM Close call for this one but due to being the scoring machine it has to go to Gordo. Si was probably the next best player who like Ian for us got better as the game went on - the fact he scored one goal by nutmeg on me meant he was nevwer going to get the MotM vote as being a keeper being 'megged is humiliating. 2 other neat goals when he waited until I had dived then calmly picked the place and let the ball trundle over the line with a zimmer. For the Blues: we put up a good fight but got caught by the white's counter attacking style. A lack of the linesman's offside flag lead to us being caught as we chased the game. Big Davie had a good game at the back and setting up attacks; likewise for Karl. Ian got better as the game went on and began to find form - several great runs and goals in the last 20 minutes or so. Stu again good game with some good goals but sadly not enough. For the White's a good team performance and some fine finishing. Apolgies to the Blues but I was unable to save a lot other than in the first few minutes. I had the misfortune to get injured after a few minutes saving a shot which hit Ian on the way in - had to do some bizarre change of direction and saved it but landed strangely - lead to me hurting my back and having restricted movement so wasn't my usual standard. I probably would have gotten closer to the shots (especially Gordo's) but not saved them. |
| Posted By: Big Dave Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 854 | Cheers for the game Yeah, Gordo for MOTM from me also. Normally I would try to back off when people are so far out but credit to him for rifling them in from all distances and angles. Special mention to the Iain on our team who I thought had a good game. Cheers again for the game and keep up the good work! |
| Posted By: Gordo Posted On: Feb 9, 2006 Views: 844 | MOTM Firstly chaps, can I just say thanks for all the votes and positive comments. Now that its all over and done with you can all rest assured that, while I enjoyed the fine vein of attacking form, I've probably used up my next three months worth of finishing credit, and normal (high and wide) service will no doubt be resumed from next week. I have to say, it was satisfying to put Eeky and Craigo's tiresome jibes to bed...they've been taking enormous pleasure recently of shouting, "ah crap, I've Gordo'd it" or "oh man, what a Gordo!" each time they duff the shot high or wide. So to you two...get it up ye!! ;-)) Right, well down to the business of MOTM. It truely was a tough call this week. I thought long and hard about handing it to Eeky as I thought he was excellent in attack for the tatties. I'm glad to see his recent sharp hike in workrate is continuing through the weeks and last night I could see the confidence return to his play, especially going forward. Often terrorising the mince defences, he would run straight at us and, much to the annoyance of our keeper, somehow managed to squeeze the ball past for the shot or killer pass. There was one man standing in the way of the vote and that was Si. SEPA Si as we've come to know him. His running was tremendous and his goal scoring remarkable. He didn't stop moving and was always available in attack or defense. Hell, he even managed to link up well with me, which in itself would be reason enough for MOTM. Well done fella! Mention also to Karl for his performance, and link up with Iain and Dave. Good shout also to Dave for his wizardry on the wings, and for filling in at short notice! |
