Rip Van Winkle's Necklace

So I asked cosplay help on tumblr about where to find a nazi necklace. All I got was a rely saying that i wont help, and you shouldn't wear one.
What should i do?

Should I wear one?
I really would like to wear one to complete my cosplay.

But what?

Help me!!!
I know cosplaying is just for fun.
Is it really offensive if i wore one to a convention?

refrences

Okay...Erin, not all of us are enjoying these latest comics as much as you might think. Just fyi. We don't all get the refrences, and clicking links, while helpful in the extreme, does take away from the fun of comic reading. A couple times is cool, but this story line has required quite a few.
Also; please tell me you're not going to merge Hellsing with every one of the manga/animes listed in this poll?! Note the numbers-many do not know more than Hellsing, much less all of them! :P

Thanks for your time.

Don't worry, you can always just wear the outfit and keep off the schawsticas(sp?).. just wear a read band around your arm with out a symbol on it.

Nazis?

I think you're all too worried about other people's reactions. The cosplay would be for a con, right? You've been to a convention before, yes? Last year at AX, Man Faye was more offensive (to non-attendees) than the guys who dressed up as Captain Hans and Schroedinger (swastika's included). Hell, more people from the surrounding areas were more put off by cross-players than any nazi paraphenalia - I've never seen so many signs in fast food restaurants making it very clear that the ladies room is for actual females only. There were a couple of Metal Slug guys (That X on the armband isn't very far off from an swastika, right?) and they weren't given any hard time.

Trust me. At the convention, everyone would either know why you are dressed as a Nazi, or would learn pretty quickly by asking. Outside of the convention, on glimpse of Man Faye or Sailor Bubba, and I'm sure people would be happy to see a Nazi.

Point is that you shouldn't worry about it. Unless you are screaming that the Holocaust didn't happen (which I'm assuming isn't going to happen :), more than likely people won't even make the connection given the larger scope of cosplaying weirdness.

cosplaying and cons

I don't worry what people think of me or who I cosplay. If they have issue with make belive and poking /fun/ at nazies rather than supporting them, that's their issue, not mine. And if someoen hurts me cause of what I wear, after I clearly state why I'm wearing such and where I'm going, then they get taken down tot he police station.

Yeah.

But I cosplay Sir Integra, so I don't plan on having this problem when I go to my first con.
You heard me: my first con is the end of April. :) I'll have Alucard, Walter and two undecided Hellsing characters with me. I don't think my Seres can make it and Anderson wont be ready, sadly.

Nazi cosplay

I've never been to a large con before, but if I did go, I myself would love to cosplay Schro (especially since that'd be about that only Hellsing character I could cosplay, aside from Seras (although I would be uncomfortable wearing a skirt that short) once I get my hair hacked off (yes, yes, crossdressing cosplay is teh evil, nyeh)).

But I sure as HELL would not be wearing that costume ANYWHERE but inside the con (and I might make a second armband with a different symbol than a swastika in case I get told to take it off). I may have taken two years of Tae Kwon Do, but that's not much help against an angry mob. I would probably just wear a trenchcoat over it outside or something.

Because being pepper-sprayed in the face would not be a fun experience.

Its about respect too. You've got to respect people and wearing Nazi stuff reminds people of the Holocaust. You've got the right to wear what you want of course, but if you're going to be reminding anyone about a subject that touchy, you aught to be ready to defend yourself. =^..^=

I agree! I'd never never dress like Schro, Nazis are fun in Hirano's world (well not really, sorta. I really hated Zorin.) but they're nothing to joke about in real life and for me that incudes cosplay too. Anyway, dressed like Schro, your just a walking target for pepper spray in the face. At least that's what I think. >_< =^..^=

Nazi cosplay

People who cosplay Millennium characters have had to be careful with the swastikas. It's generally understood when you're within a convention center, but while standing in line outside you probably want to keep them hidden ^_~

You know, I'd still be scared to cosplay a Millenium character though. XD

Ahh I see. Thank you Erin now I can pronounce manga without looking like I don't know anime. :D Thank you also for explaining the Nazi situation to me. You're right, they don't spout anti-sematic statements or anything, they're pretty much just regular bad guys. I hadn't thought about it that way. I agree, if someone does agree with the Nazi beliefs they do have problems. :( Thanks again! =^..^=
