| Posted By: Zetsubou-sensei Posted On: Aug 28, 2007 Views: 2900 | Changed sexes I think it's truly all about the sex when it comes to hard yaoi/yuri (I find shonen-ai and shojo-ai to be more focused on story since there's a difference between yaoi and shonen-ai in terms of sex (if you know what I mean), so if there's no sex involved at all there could be some discussion), so if the parters have different...well.../parts/ from each other, then it changes the way I look at the doujinshi. It's hentai if there's a "male part" and a "female part". It's yaoi if both characters have "male parts". It's yuri if both characters have "female parts". |

There's also storyline to consider. Character A and character B hook up while B is female. Relationship continues after B returns to male. Or what about one in which roles remain in yaoi standard. What's required, really, is a sense of confusion over gender OR a plot device in which the female state is not normal. Even something so small as "I would like you even if you were male" is enough to pass my standards. |
