| Posted By: Foxy Posted On: Apr 13, 2006 Views: 967 | Ban them For our level of football, we dont need to have slide tackles so I think we should ban them all together. |
| Posted By: Steve Posted On: Apr 13, 2006 Views: 958 | League Fives When i played League five a sides sliding was banned! |
| Posted By: The Ponto Posted On: Apr 13, 2006 Views: 956 | Sliding Sliding should only be done where there is snow and a sledge!!! Therefore i agree with Foxy and say ban them completly. |
| Posted By: iain Posted On: Apr 13, 2006 Views: 951 | Don't really mind I don't really mind them unless they're late of course! but it's probably easier if we just don't have them. I sometimes find it handy just to stick my leg in at the last minute to knock the ball away but inevitably I end up on the ground along with whoever I tackled. It's normally me who gets injured though! |
| Posted By: Alan Posted On: Apr 17, 2006 Views: 941 | Sliding Nothing wrong with a slide tackle if it's done legally - if it's done from behind or you take the man first it's illegal anyway surely? |
| Posted By: karl Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 927 | not worth it!! People might slide tackle all year and not cause any trouble, but one mistake can take someones leg/ankle out! The worst that can happen is a goal is scored, much better than having someones broken shinbone on your conscience! |
| Posted By: neilw Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 924 | speaking purely selfishly I don't think there's any reason you would need to put in a slide tackle in our fives. Personally, they make me nervous - even if they're on the other side of the pitch. As Karl says, the worst that can happen if you let a man through is you lose a goal. |
| Posted By: Gordo Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 903 | Slide tackles oot! I'm with the majority on this one. I can't see any reason why why people should be making sliding tackles in a game of 5s. Remember, we're playing on astroturf, not grass!! |
| Posted By: Craigo Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 902 | Slides Personally I back slides (obvoiusly) but for the girls among us I'd accept the official FUTSAL Rules. "Futsal is the format of five-a-side football, that is recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA." Sliding Tackles Sliding tackles are not allowed in Futsal but players ARE allowed to slide on the pitch, for example to stop the ball from going out of play. For a player sliding to be considered an offence, the tacklers opponent must have possession of the ball. Referees will not give a foul for a slide if the opponent does not have possession of the ball. |
| Posted By: Iain Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 900 | Ooooh - I like that one! Craig's rules thing sounds ideal - no man on man challenges but you can slide for the ball if it's no one is in possession of it. Seems fair enough as no one should get hurt that way. We'll give that a go and see how we get on. |
| Posted By: creeky Posted On: Apr 19, 2006 Views: 889 | slides oot I voted no to the sliding tackles... agree its not needed in our wee game of 5's, the game can still be both competitive and fun without them! You won't get me sliding either to stop the ball going out of play!!! thats what the boards are for??!! The Creeky Teeth Preservation Society (see you all back next week) |
