| Posted By: Heidi Posted On: Aug 29, 2006 Views: 2438 | Bond's office just hung up on me 5 times I've been hung up on 5 times in the past 5 minutes by Bond's office. I've had polite conversations with staffers in 12 other senate offices this afternoon, so I don't think I'm particularly antagonistic. Totally bizarre behavior from two female staffers in Bond's D.C. office. I know they're on recess, so these are probably interns, but it certainly reflects poorly on Bond and Republicans that citizens can't call to find out if a hold was placed on a bill that protects tax dollars nationwide. Would love to see what other netizens find. The phone number is (202) 224-5721. First call: Hi, I was calling to find out whether the senator is responsible for a hold on S2590? Female Staffer #1: Not that we're aware of, but thanks for calling (she was about to hang up, and I said) Wait, did you know that the senator is one of only 12 senators who have not denied placing a hold? She asked where I was from and I said CO. She suggested I call my senators and I responded that they are both in the clear. She then hung up on me. Call #2: Female staffer #1 picked up. Hi, you just hung up on me. I'm actually a Republican and was calling to find out... At which point she hung up on me again. Call #3: Female staffer #2 picked up. Asked Female staffer #2 the name of FS#1 because I wanted to fill out the web contact form. She asked what state I was calling from, and I said CO, at which point she hung up on me! Call #4: Female staffer #1 answered. Hi, are you in the habit of hanging up on people? She immediately hung up on me. Call #5: Female staffer #1 answered. Hi, could I have your name please? To which she replied: At this point we will no longer be taking your calls, and we suggest that you contact your senators. Have a nice day. At which point she hung up on me yet again. There were two instances between calls 3 & 4 when the phone was picked up and hung up without any communication. I'd be interested to know whether Senator Bond instructs his staff to be rude to/hang up on citizens from other states. After all, he might want to run a national race someday. |

| Posted By: Heidi Posted On: Aug 29, 2006 Views: 1215 | I bet it's a gang of FIVE Byrd, Stevens, Kennedy, Stabenow, and Bond. Isn't it true that there can be more than one secret hold? Is it possible to determine how many holds have been placed? |
