Posted By: pam Posted On: Sep 10, 2006 Views: 783 | Ground Zero On the question about what should be done with Ground Zero, I personally don't think there should be anything built there. I think they should just leave it as it is for the most part and make some sort of memorial shrine type thing somewhere around it or in the middle of it. Think about it, there are people who haven't been found and are probably still buried under all the rubble. I think it would be nice for people who haven't found their loved ones to have someplace that's dedicated to those who haven't been found. What do you guys think? p & l pn p.s. p & l stands for peace and love, btw. |

Posted By: Dragonmaster Posted On: Sep 10, 2006 Views: 770 | RE: Ground Zero WTF?! There are still people there? One person with a trowel could have gotten all the body's out by now. For me that's another example of the government sitting on it's ass, while giving people the illusion of safety. (damn, still people there?) Ok, first get everybody out. Then... I think we should build it back, taller and better than ever. Either way it's going to be an example. We build something else, it shows that we are afraid that it will happen again. We build it back bigger it shows that we won't be put down, that no matter what happens we will come back stronger and better for it. I think this country could use that. Also build it with new safety technology, as an example of how buildings should be built for safety in extreme situations, like what happened, fires, power outages, earthquakes, ext. Better fire suppression systems, small fire stations in various places in the building, not just a storage room in the basement, self powered elevators, ext. |
Posted By: greg Posted On: Sep 10, 2006 Views: 769 | RE: Ground Zero I totally disagree. The towers should be rebuilt to look the same as the old ones, as a symbol of resilience and defiance. No more crying, most of us don't really care about the people who died on a personal level (sure you feel sorry but it's only 2700+ people). I just don't see the point of having this wasted space in the middle of a bustling metropolis so that a few family members and tourists from Kentucky can cry and hang cheesy teddy bears and america flags on a chain link fence when they visit. |

Posted By: Mac Posted On: Sep 11, 2006 Views: 675 | RE: Ground Zero people here tend to either go for building something huge on the same spot that the towers stood or leaving the wreckage there. I believe I may have a better idea. where each buiding stood there should be large fountains. these should match the footprint of each building. they should be large and square. they should be low, maybe 1.5 feet above the ground. in the very center of each square there should be a hole it should be 1 foot in diameter at most. it should be set up so that an intense beam of white light shines upward from inside. also water should come out of the hole. it shouldnt spray upward at all, just come out of the hole onto the surface of the fountain. that surface should be large, square, and flat. the names of all those killed should be carved into that surface. avout 1/4 inch of water should flow over that surface and run over the edge of the huge square then fall over the edge into a drain to be recycled. |
Posted By: Posted On: Sep 11, 2006 Views: 673 | RE: Ground Zero That actually sounds pretty cool but unfortunately you can't make a made-for-tv movie about it so it isn't likely to happen. |
