| Posted By: Anna Jean Backus Posted On: Oct 3, 2010 Views: 1916 | Poem Before I realized a poem had been written about the lst rose of summer, I wrote one of my own: The Last Rose of Summer The last rose of summer clings to life. Neither winds nor rains disturb its plight. It is alone from dawn to twilight. At the wake of day its beauty is a delight. Its sweet perfume fills the air. It is wished it could last forever. Time finally claims its fate. Faded, withered petals lose their will. To the earth they flutter in decay. Only in our memory will we see the beauty of the last rose of summer. by: Anna Jean Backus, November 26, 2007 |
