RE: Yay

Yeah, I know, I'm a looser. Whatever, I haven't had it in a while. I think this makes 6 times now???

We've got Flying cars, you can buy them now, but it would be nice to have a practical one...http://www.roadabletimes.com
You could always get a small helicopter, you can get one new for about $200,000, which is much cheaper than that flying car at $1,000,000.

I'd either want a way to do healthy exercise while you're asleep, or a universal language translator device. Well, all of them would be pretty cool...

RE: Yay

No, you are a loser. Leave it to you to want a way to exercise without working at it and something to translate any language into hillbilly. Maybe first you should just learn English.

RE: Yay

Who wouldn't want to loose weight while sleeping? Look at the results so far, it's leading.

As far as the hillbilly stuff, you realise that it's closest to how people spoke when we first came to what would one day be called Americ....no, I don't guess you would.
Anyway, I probably know how to read more languages than most of you here. And don't bother trying to test me with some babelfish crap or something. I think I've proved by now that I'm fine putting lots of work into stuff, I make chain maille by hand for ****s sake.

"I probably know how to read more languages than most of you here"

the titles of anime movies and fiction stories about dragons doesnt qualify as knowing the languages

RE: Yay

adam is making excellent points tonight. First of all lardass, nobody wants to test you because nobody cares. Second, people that are fluent in multiple languages are in high demand so if you really did know all these languages you wouldn't have the career options of working at a rest stop, driving a truck, or sitting on your fat ass making worthless battle armor for $.50 an hour. Third, hillbilly is not closest to any ****ing language ever made. It is just what happens when you take English, add in some inbreeding, mix it with illiteracy and run it through a mouth with 3 teeth.

RE: Yay

Lol, nobody wants to best me, yet you try every week here. Either to prove me wrong, or make me leave, whatever. I'm far from fluent, but I can read (read, not speak, k?) a few other languages than English, some of them cant be spoken anyway - Runes, Ogham, Magi, and I'm working on Greek and simplified Hieroglyphs. My favorite is Theban...beautiful... Yeah, you cant use them in everyday stuff, but it's a hobby. I'm crazy remember?

Hey, you forgot that I go back in January to finish up my last year of Chef school. Besides, nothing is in high demand here in WV, lol.

a short 101
"Some words widely assumed to be of Appalachian origin are not: the word moonshine was coined in England, 'hooch' is of Native American origin. Words like redneck, cracker, hoosier were coined in Northern England and brought over; originally, they were not necessarily insults. The derogatory term Hillbilly was coined only in early 1900's.

Remember that dialects based primarily on geography are called areal dialects. One of the main researchers of areal dialects of the United States was Hans Kurath, author of the Dialect Atlas of America He found that there are four main dialect areas in the Eastern us: New England (including New York), Middle Atlantic, Backwoods, and Southern Tidewater; The three main dialectal divisions can further be subdivided into at least 27 subdialects. The original eastern dialects tended to become more leveled and to merge farther west. "

RE: Yay

Yea, I said test. Reading comprehension is not your strong point either. Even with your screw-up in reading you are still wrong. Every week you post some bull**** that a slow 2nd grader could call you on. There is no "attempt" to prove you wrong. You are just proven wrong by the mention of basic facts that you are too stupid to understand. Maybe this seems like a challenge to you but it is just basic common sense to anyone else.

I didn't forget about your claim to going back to your community college to take some more cooking classes and call it being a "chef". Maybe you can combine that with your other career options and work as a truck stop cook.

A shorter 101
"some words" is not the same as to an entire dialect. By your logic, English is the same as French because we use the word cul-de-sac.

Remember, when copying someone else's work you should quote your source (Liguistics 201 - http://pandora.cii.wwu.edu/vajda/ling201/test3materials/AmericanDialects .htm)
or you are just a plagiarizing asshole.

I'm sorry (not really) but I don't have time (and I am a dumb blonde) to figure out how to avoid a censor so if I start swearing and you dont like the * then just tell me how to get around it.
