Fourth Reich?

October 17, 2006 will go down in the annals of history as a very dark day indeed. I would go so far as to say that we have entered a new ‘dark ages.’ As reported by The Associated Press, today the President of the United States of America signed into law a bill that, to quote the AP story:

“… protects detainees from blatant abuses during questioning – such as rape, torture and “cruel and inhuman” treatment – but does not require that any of them be granted legal counsel. Also, it specifically bars detainees from filing habeas corpus petitions challenging their detentions in federal courts.”

This new law also, for the first time in American history, admits coerced testimony into evidence. Coerced testimony has been presented, and even allowed in some cases throughout history. But never before has its use been codified into law in these United States.

While I love my country, today, I am ashamed of my government.

So when exactly will we be officially declared the Fourth Reich?

RE: Fourth Reich?

about the beatings given to terrorists but to the moron that says he waould rather be a Republican than an ass. Guess what. You are already both. Anyone that would align themselves with a political party is a mindless sheep and anyone that sticks with that party even after they have ****ed all over the country is a dumbass fool. Before someone pulls the string coming out your back and you say "Liberal" let me say the same goes for those spineless pussies.

We should set up internment camps again like during WWII only this time we should put every politician on capitol hill, every member of ther Bush administration, and every supreme court in it for what they have done to this country. We should also put you morons that say **** like "rather be a REP then an ASS" and people with "Bush Supporter" or "Anyone but Bush" bumperstickers in with them.

Now you better go consult with your party to find out how to respond.

RE: Fourth Reich?

This isn't a proactive move, this is a response to the ACLU trying to screw over the security of the country. They already detain people, but because these terrorists have people who will study american law and find ways to subvert the system (lets face it, thats REALLY easy) so the ACLU says "you dont have grounds to hold them" this law allows them to. Like the guys who were buying hundreds of untrackable cell phones to "resell" (the news once quoted the price they claimed to buy and resell at, which was like a 10% profit minus the costs of transporting to thier hometown which was a ways away, and time to sell it, making it highly unlikely anyone would do it for such a small amount) and lets us actually hold them and find out what they really are doing. This holding illegally has been going on since long before 9/11. This law just makes it so now that the public knows about these people being detained, they cant do anything to get them freed before the required information has been gathered.
