#42 Red Cummings Update

Harold 'Red' Cummings is now 80 something, a US Navy WWII combat veteran, lives in Melbourne FL and drives his motor scooter to the Palm Gardens Golf Course in West Melbourne every Sunday a.m. to play golf at 7:30 a.m. with his VFW and American Legion buddies. Red missed today's (12/14/2008) golf outing because he's in the hospital recovering from a traffic accident last Wednesday caused by another driver running a red light and t-boning Red's car on his driver's side door. The mishap cracked Red's sternum and some ribs and he should be out of the hospital after a week and back on the golf course in a month or two.

Who drove the #42

My old Favorite driver at Lonsdale Speedway drove the number 42 Red Cummings owned by litwin Motors. Now I'm going back to the late 40s early 50s.And I met Freddie Luchaei yesterday at his Consignment store in Warwick R.I.he was my second favorite.I also ran Seekonk Speedway in the early 60s and I owned and drove the # 61 from Park Chevron.I'm now the Founder of the R.I. Steel Guitar Assoc. and the new one New England Steel Guitar Assoc.

#760

I think the 760 was Johnny Lobo's car,now that I've looked at some old films.

red cummings

red is still alive in florida. he originaly lived in the town next to me. he drove a delivery truck in the 50`s and i worked at a car dealership in danvers mass. used to sometimes eat our lunches together.......never talked about racing. i did not know his name or did we ever talk about race cars. We met on the track during the first can/american race held at dover nh. as they were introducing the drivers. they called out red cummings name and because i had never met him i walked down the track and was i surprised when i saw who he was. His remark to me was "what the hell are you doing here"...he was driving a car for someone from wakefield mass. and i was driving a car that i put to gether with alot of help from a guy named "longie".........those were the good old days. hop harrington won that race!

big e

I loved those old pictures taken at the Eastern States Expo. Thanks for showing them. Does anyone know if Ralph Boehm drove the #760 shown in the pics? I don't know if that is him in the picture.
