I need rabbit help quick!!

I know I'm going out on a limb here...whatever.

Ok, so I'm mowing the grass like I do every week...it's really high....then the worst noise and sight I've ever seen befalls my eyes.......:-_( You guys know me...I'm a pussy...you know how bad this kind of thing bothers me.

A few hours later and I'm left with two little baby rabbits....

The animal shelter is closed...I tried to call and see what to do...

They are about 3-4" long, brown with a little white speck on top of their heads and tail. Eyes are open. Nothing seems wrong with them, no cuts or broken bones or anything, just slow enough for a fat ass to catch them. Are they old enough for solid food? Is there something I can make up at home for them if not? Who do I call on a Friday night? I've got them in a small pet carrier with whats left of their nest for now...

I've had pet rabbits before, it was about this size when I got it from the pet store and she lived 9 years...died last year...I've still got all the stuff.

RE: RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

have you tried to see if you can drop them off at a vet? even if they vet won't see them without payment, maybe they'd give free advice. try to see if any emergency vets are open, if the other regular vets are closed.

there are substitutes for milk if they're not old enough for solid food.

anyway, this site should help you out a lot

http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html

they have a ton of info about what to do with orphaned rabbits.

sorry for the whole situation, dude. that must have been rough :(

oh, and when you do go to that site, in the FAQ section, you can try contacting wildlife rehabilitators, but if that doesn't work or whatever, go to the part about DOMESTIC orphaned rabbits, that has info about milk substitutes, how to feed them (there's a technique that involves holding them upright, etc, and how to house them).

RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

Dragonmaster had several rabbits, including wild baby ones. I guess you didn't go far enough back in your research for your little prank. Even if he didn't, he was the type to toss out advice for this kind of stuff whether he was qualified of not. He wouldn't ask for it. Pretty lame impersonation really.

RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

BTW, mother rabbits don't stay with the babies and the nests are always dug into the ground so you can mow right over the top and not know a nest is there. Double Lame.

Can you cut it out with pointing out practically every post as being fake? I believe this dragonmaster or whatever the fuck his name is... the momma could have been sticking her head out of the hole or whatever. Stop being a dickhead

Why, because it wrecks your little game? No, I don't think I will "Ben". What part of "mother rabbits don't stay with the babies" did you have trouble with? Mother rabbits do not hang around the nest. They only go there for a short amount of time to feed them. The nest is big enough to hold 4 or 5 babies, about 6" deep, but it could never hold a mother rabbit. You must be confusing a rabbit with a ground hog. Remember, one has big ears like you, and one is fat and lazy like you. Oh, I see your confusion now. This is all too comlicated for you to understand fully but just remember that it is virtually impossible to run over rabbits with a lawn mower. Your Dragonmaster impersonation failed miserably. Deal with it and stop being a prick.

Fuck you rabbits live in holes. Try reading Peter Rabbit sometime

RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

You are aware that was a fictional story?.....I already indicated they would be below ground also which is why Iststed you couldnt have run one over. I rabbit does have ears and it is not going to sit around or poke out of a hole with a massive vibration such as that from a lawn mower.

RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

"Ben", As the fake me pointed out Peter Rabbit is a fictional kids story. Bugs Bunny is also a kids story. Rabbits don't really talk and dig tunnels to Albuquerque. I hate to break this stuff to you but dogs do not walk on two legs and read the newspaper, coyotes do not do all their shopping at Acme, and ducks do not wear little sailor outfits. Take a minute to let that all sink in.

Actually what I indicated was baby rabbits are in nests about 8 inches deep. The nest is made out of grass and fur from the mom and there is just enough room for a few babies. There is NO room for the mother. The mother doesn't hang around there and the babies don't come out until they can fend for themselves. If the babies were out they could easily outrun a fatass like Dragonmaster. The only rabbit Dragonmaster could ever catch with the mower is a dead one, and even that is iffy.

Fake me, terrible job trying to impersonate me. Here are a few clues for you to note. I don't use several periods in a row. They are pointless, especially where you put them. I use apostrophes. I don't type random gibberish in the middle of a sentence. I am not a rabbit.

Just because whoever posted that did not use a name doesn't mean they were impersonating you. Quite a few people who rarely post don't use a name.

Fictional stories are still inspired by truth. Please provide evidence that NO adult rabbits live in holes. Where do they sleep and hide out, tree branches?

"Just because whoever posted that did not use a name doesn't mean they were impersonating you"

Learn how to read. Pay special attention to the part where the impersonator (most likely you) said "I already indicated they would be below ground". Since I was the one that said that, it was clearly an attempt to impersonate rather than just someone else posting without a name.

"Fictional stories are still inspired by truth. Please provide evidence that NO adult rabbits live in holes. Where do they sleep and hide out, tree branches?"

You are obviously not able to be educated. I realize it probably isn't your fault you are as stupid as you are but please stop asking idiotic questions. Fictional stories are not all inspired by truth. There has never been a giant lizard attacking Toyko. A tidal wave did not wipe out the west coast. Can you explain what real life event had a coyote purchasing explosives and rocket skates?

Rabbits cannot climb trees. Their legs and center of gravity would never support such behavior. Stop watching the Cartoon Network, thinking it is the Discovery channel.

RE: I need rabbit help quick!!

Wait...bugs bunny isn't real? What're you going to tell me next santa isn't real? Anyway, calm down Nameless. Obviously Ben is dumb, but you don't have to get outraged over it. Besides, this entire topic was started by what I believe to be an impersonation.
