Posted By: Josh Posted On: Apr 21, 2009 Views: 9664	STi Favorite Year 2004-2005 I own A 04 STi which I purchessed new in 2004 and started tuning it right away..I think its the best model years because it looks the best and has the most aftermarket support. I've driven stock STis from 2006-2009 and I think the 04 & 05s offered the best performance, handling, exterior, and time tested and refined aftermarket support. My 04 STi is producing 412whp & 424wtq with basic bolt ons. The turbo and engine internals are stock. I've upgraded the intake,full 3 inch exhaust,up-pipe,intercooler,fuel pump,fuel rails,turbo manifold/header, B.O.V.,clutch,flywheel, AccessPort custom stage 3 19psi map, I.C+Radiator piping.

I also agree with alot of other subaru fanatics that the new 08/09's aren't very good looking. I especially don't like the fact that all STI's are 5 door!

It's very spartan and purpose built. 04-05 front ends very choice no gimmicks or wierdness like the 3-piece global subaru grill of 06-07. I'm not a frat boy but I didn't buy my car because its vanilla like the 08's(its a very bad road Subaru has taken with the new platform, lacks zest). Also I'm 6'3" and I fit in my subie just fine. I've driven the 08 STI and it feels like they are trying to be German instead of remembering what made the STi an STi. P.S. you can get bigger fog lights alot cheaper than you can get 73 hp, 6-speed, DCCD, adj. HID's and 15.5 lb forged BBS wheels.

I am not a fan of the 08 either because the wrx looks alot like a Hyundai, which is to say the least, very sad. The hatchback sti will never be able to compare to the sexy look of the 04-05.

If you could put an 04 STi hood scoop on a bug eye rex..that'd be the ****. The 04 and up models have a very puny fog lights... they need huge ones like the 02's.
Posted By: Syn Posted On: Sep 28, 2007 Views: 6468	08 WRX I bought a 2008 WRX last week. Not being of the "frat boy" crowd, the styling of the '08s have much more appeal to me. Also, the longer wheel base sold me when I sat in the car and was NOT cramped for room. I'm a taller guy with long legs, so that greatly limits my choices of cars. All in all, having looked at all the previous models of WRX, the '08 is the best. The redesign of the car was very skillfully done, all the standard modding essentials are there (so far as I have investigated), and stock the car is a blast to drive. My co-worker with his BMW was drooling over it. The only complaint I have is the car rolls a bit too much around corners. But, with the upgrade to some nice stiffer swaybars, it will be a much smother ride. If I hadn't tried the '08 WRX, I might have ended up with the Mazda RX-8. But, hey, that's fate eh? Good job, Subaru.

But the 08's oh the 08...I guess we will have to see. I wish I could take a Mazda speed 3 body and put it on the sti!!!
Posted By: Cody Posted On: Jul 5, 2007 Views: 3334	The new subie i had a 02' blue bugeye, but now i have a 04' Wrx in white, and i absolutely love it, i plan to get an STI when i graduate in 09' but the way the 08' Impreza's look i cant stand. I think they look like a 2003 Toyota Camry LE. I love subies but if they keep that body style when i get a new car it will not be a subaru, maybe a garage kept 07' STI, but the way the new Evos look i think subaru my be loseing the Sporty side because the want to be "Mature" now lets see if that makes them money : /
