I was gonna give my two weeks notice at BK last week...I am now a "Crew Trainer" which basically means that I train everybody coming in the door. I already did that...but now whenever the BK rep. or district manager come in I have to walk with them and answer when things aren't right. I also do inventory, the truck order, and some money issues like running to the bank for change and other manager stuff. Anyway, I was given "a nice raise" of 15 cents...15 ****ing cents...that brings me up to $6.05. It felt like, what I imagine, getting hit in the face by the tail of a blue whale if it's ****ed at you and..well, you get the point. I hate walmart, but damn, they want me back in the bakery and they'll start me at $7.50 and hour...When they called BK to check my work thing my manager freaked the **** out and asked me not to leave, that if I quit that half of the store will quit with me. (who knew? I mean, I know I bust my ass in there, but I didn't expect all that, not from fast food, ya know?) I'm not sure what to do...I can pay my bills with what I make now. (I make about $700-$800 monthly) I'm not able to save much back, and any little problem that comes up takes me a few paydays to catch back up... All this time off gave me a chance to think, BK did fine before I came along, and they'll do fine after I'm gone, so ****em, good luck and all, but ****em. So... Back to the unpaid vacation... I got a lot of stuff done so far this week, finished up playing Okami on the PS2, finished up a few books, got out the Chain Maille stuff again, kept on my diet, I even painted my car...almost done, letting the paint cure before I wet sand it and put on the clear. (was white and rust, now black, blood red trim) How's everybody doing anyway? OT? GUW? other people I cant remember names to and I realise that I am an ass for that??? Wow...that was much longer than I meant it to be...well, something for the impersonators to play around with. |

I just applied on the walmart site...as much as I hate to, if Chef doesnt call me in the next day or two for Glade Springs, I'll try to get my job back in the bakery at walmart...it sucks, but around here it's my best bet for making more money. They start at $7.50 in the bakery. It's pretty easy there, you can only do whats in the book. A little boring for me, but it's not like there's a "real" bakery around here. I guess I'll just have to settle till I get the money saved up to move somewhere with a good one. My vacation got cut short, some people quit so I have to go back Friday...just a few days early, but still...I was told to open Friday (thats 4 f-ing a.m. people) or don't bother coming back when my vacation is over on Sunday...? WTF? I think there ****ed cause I took a vacation the week after the promotion...whatever, I had one coming, and I trained 4 people to take my place for the week...I guess all four quit... |

So this morning I go job hunting cause I finally had enough of BK, ****em, even though I like everybody there. I get the Walmart job in the bakery decorating cakes...it starts at $7 an hour...I was happy with that, then I go home thinking I'll finish out the week at BK. But then, lol, I get a call and almost don't answer (bill collectors, you know how it is) it was the head Chef at Glade Springs. :-O She wanted me to start tomorrow morning, but I asked her if I could do one more day at BK, I'm the only opener tomorrow morning and I'd feel bad or whatever... anyway, she's telling me all the stuff going on there, lots of hours, good pay, benefits, all kinds of good news, possible openings when she sees how I do. I'm just a prep cook, but thats better than a dishwasher and at least I'll get the chance to prove myself. YEAH!!! Dang...good mood overload...headache...but the good kind...anyway, off to tell a few more people. Good Vibes all around. :-)) |

Let me work out the math for you.I was earning $75 an hour as a contractor before I took the full-time job - that's about average for a contractor in my field, although some people take $200 or higher. $75 an hour X 13 hours a day X 335 days a year = $326,625 It is difficult, sure - but far from impossible. That's why I said theoretically, if I worked my ass off. But I'm quite comfortable at my job and enjoy the all the free time and benefits. Being a contractor sucks for a wide variety of reasons. And yeah, I admit that was a lame attempt at teasing dragonfatty but you need to lighten up, if I was that serious I wouldn't be using "dork" as my name. |
