In order for semen to have been found, there would have had to be sexual assault and sodomizing, and that did not happen according to the prosecuting attorney in arkansas. Secondly, the things that happened at the camp were done prior to the middle of the week when they returned and not one student sought medical attention until after the sunday following that, a full 4 days later, which means no semen could have been found in 2 days! It is the misinformed who keep the fire lit and has put neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend, teachers against students, etc. Before speaking about the situation, please be sure you have FACTS and not innuendo and heresay from the rumor mill, because you are only making it worse.

Things happened at that camp that are dispicable and that cannot be taken back. This type of initiation should not have happened. Many of the rumors running rampant in the community are false in regards to actual sodomizing, although there were acts where the privates of this ONE young man was visible and they were being used in a fashion in which he "swatted" at the boys' faces and/or heads. The alleged incidents' involving "items", in particular, were impossible to have taken place as rumored or else the boy or boys to which those acts were allegedly committed against would have required medical attention right away and they (the boys) would have been forced to find an adult at the college for help. Only 1 boy is responsible for any of the lewd acts that took place, but with that said, this young man did have several helpers each and every time an act was committed. These helpers were friends of the alleged victims and victims themselves in some cases. Some of the helpers chose to help instead of becoming a victim. Once these boys returned home, had it not been for a parent on the following sunday (they returned home on wednesday) finding a video on her son's cell phone of a couple of incidents, nothing would most likely have come from this as the boys were not telling. It appears they all made a pact on the bus ride home not to tell anyone. ALL of the boys who were involved in any way at all should be punished, but the school has chosen only to punish a few. Many of the victims are also offenders yet they have not been punished. Hazing is defined as having knowledge of such acts in which you are as guilty as having committed the act, which would then lead to all on the school bus had knowledge and all who helped the older boy are ALL GUILTY! and so should be punished.

The type of hazing was SEXUAL ASSAULT. Did not involve drugs or alcohol, just the agressors BODY PARTS and other items. Yes, the younger children were molested, they were sodomized, and they were raped. When there is semen found inside a rectum 2 days later, YES there was sexual gratification.

Most people have no idea what the parents of these victims are feeling. We can only try to put ourselves in their shoes, and think about how we might react if it had been our child put in that position. The boys who were victimized were terrorized for 4 days. The fact that Lyons college say they knew nothing about what was going on just proves, in my opinion, the lack of supervision in place during this basketball camp. When you have 22 boys on a floor in a dorm room, and they are screaming for someone to stop, and to leave them alone, wouldn’t you at least check to see what they were doing? I think I would have at the very least gone up to the floor they were on and asked them to settle down. The parents have tried to be patient and let the authorities handle the situation. The last thing they want is to traumatize their sons even further by causing a huge media circus. The boys already have had to deal with lewd comments from athletes from other schools during baseball games (Van Buren athletes I think). How much worse are those comments going to be when they are fact-to-face on a basketball court? It is sad that a handful of boys made very stupid decisions and put a cloud over an entire school. I wish people would realize that the actions of those 6 boys do not reflect the actions of the other 750+ students at East Carter. It is my desire for parents and coaches to talk to their athletes and children about the effects their comments can have on other people. If people would consider how they would be feeling if it were their children or grandchildren involved in such a horrific event, I don’t think there would be as much gossiping, or taunting from either side. The authorities in Arkansas have been less than cooperative in providing the information required of their own Victims Rights Laws. I hope the media will be able to help the victims and their parents in finding out why it has taken over two months to file charges, and why evidence seems to be evaporating into thin air between offices in Arkansas. It is a sad day in America when victims are treated as the enemy when trying to find out information from elected public officials who are put into office to represent and protect the law-abiding citizens that put them there in the first place.

If it were my kid it happened to, I doubt that I would feel that it was just "boys being boys." That kind of stuff includes swirlies, shaving cream on your face while you sleep, or rotton eggs in your gym locker. Sexual assault is hardly "boys being boys" in my opinion. But, what do I know, maybe if they had done things like that to your kids you would just let it all go and consider it "boys being boys." I highly doubt it.

Teenagers who started out playing tough Guys and let things get out of hand. We sometimes hear dumb people say That "boys will be boys" kind of thing. People will take sides, no way Around it and no matter what - some will not assume responsibility or Guilt. It is easier to deny yours could do something wrong and make the Little kids out to be liars I guess! Hazing in its self is illegle in MOST STATES> What is hazing? Hazing is any activity expected of someone becoming part of a group or trying to keep status in a group that humiliates, degrades, or risks emotional and/or physical harm, REGARDLESS of the person's willingness to participate. Many people think of hazing as a harmless part of growing up, as something that everyone goes through at some point, but hazing is harmful, both physically and emotionally. Physical wounds heal, but a victim of hazing can carry the emotional scars with them for life.
