| Posted By: Aaron Posted On: Jun 7, 2013 Views: 1538 | If you do it in public it can come back to you My mom worked for tips, I work for tips. Mom always said, if you go out to eat and want dessert but by ordering it you would not be able to tip then do not have the dessert! I have been to the places where notorious bad tippers come from. In the U K it is so bad that many of their restaurants add service, I tipped on top of it. Gordon Ramsey has actually refused to allow repeat guest who did not tip, a second visit. In Brazil, I was harassed by waiters incessantly before the meal was even served. Life is funny, but for those of you bitching that this information on cheap asses not be on the net, get a freaking clue! Sorry but if you are brave enough to do the act then be brave enough to take the flack. Plain and simple. And I have gotten internet flack over an act of mine for which I could only be mad at myself. I waited on a very prominent person, Mr. Siegel of the Westgate Lakes fame, and he demanded much occupying my tables and running me ragged and tipped 10 per cent! So he deserves the derision, if the Queen of Versailles movie was not enough! And personally as a Jew I have been stiffed, berated and complained about for simply being that! Final word, if you cannot afford the tip, EAT AT A TAKE OUT PLACE OR FAST FOOD JOINT! Lest you be called out! |
| Posted By: Ramona Posted On: Dec 5, 2012 Views: 1871 | wedding bartenders I work as a bartender at an event center. The facility is beautiful and we do a fantastic job. Most of the bars are paid for by the bride and groom or the parents so the guest don't pay for there drinks but they should tip.Trust me if you want good drinks tip well. Most people who are not paying for their drinks ,drink excessively.I have been in this business for 25 years and you can tell alot about a person's character from how they treat the servers and bartenders. |
| Posted By: matt Posted On: Nov 10, 2012 Views: 1903 | as some one how has bin on both side I believe that a customer should give tips according to the service they receive. If the customer has to send back a dish 2-3 times the tip should reflect that. But in the same turn a customer should remember that the servers have probably been working since 6am and are probably exhausted. But this is going too far, its not right. |
| Posted By: fedup Posted On: Aug 29, 2012 Views: 898 | shame people, but do it responsibly? @Anna "Shame people for being cheap, fine, they deserve it." seriously? you really believe that because someone doesn't share YOUR personal convictions, it's ok if they are publicly humiliated, and what's more, that they deserve it? i'm glad i wasn't raised to believe that, and i'm certain that the topic of tipping isn't the only area where you hold such staunch beliefs. the thing about calling a person cheap is that you never know where other people are coming from financially. and moreover, because a person's finances ARE personal, others shouldn't even be dwelling on what someone else should or shouldn't be doing with theirs. there are lots of things that shape people's relationships with money and how they earn it, how they invest it, how they spend it, and how they share it. it is presumptuous and offensive to draw conclusions about a person's need to pay beyond what is required. what's more, it is equally in poor taste to think that leaving gratuities should weigh as heavily with others as it does with you. the fact remains that NO ONE is required to be a server for a living, just as NO ONE is required to budget extra money for those who are low-wage earners. if $2.17/hour isn't enough to meet your basic needs, take it up with your management, get a second job to supplement your serving income, or find a more suitable line of work altogether. but don't take your frustration with your limited earning potential (and that's all that this is REALLY about) out on patrons who DON'T owe you anything by labeling them as cheap and/or blasting them on public internet sites. that is rude, ignorant, and immature. YOU'VE been duped into parting from your money and probably aren't as much frustrated with nontippers as you are envious that they can see through the BS and have the fortitude not to give in to it. anna, if you choose to subscribe to group-think and want to follow cliff-walking sheep into asinine traditions and expectations, enjoy. but don't expect others to hold onto those same beliefs, and then support shaming tactics when they don't. and it's a bit "nice-nasty" to care that posting someone's address online might be dangerous, while also agreeing that posting their name and city is appropriate to getting a point across. shame people ... but do it responsibly? are you 14? and if so, why am i even wasting my breath ... |
| Posted By: Anna Posted On: Aug 29, 2012 Views: 811 | @fed up "it wouldn't be fun (or maybe it would) to see a counter site created that blasted the names, addresses, and employers of all of the servers/management that give crappy service and make diners never return." That wouldn't be a counter site, that would be yelp. Or citysearch. |
| Posted By: Anna Posted On: Aug 29, 2012 Views: 797 | I thought this was funny & fantastic until.. I saw something about addresses. There are crazy people out there. Crazy people will do stupid things with very little provocation. Shaming someone by name and city is quite enough to get the point across. Giving out their full address and saying they aren't great people is irresponsible. You won't gain any empathy from anyone by indulging in irresponsible behavior. Shame people for being cheap, fine, they deserve it. Let their friends know they need to chime in when the check comes, great idea. Putting them in a possibly dangerous situation, seriously uncool. Also, we have all had bad service once in a while and tipped appropriately to that situation. I think we can all be honest enough to admit that the worst servers will be the first to post their bad tippers here because they probably don't realize they're in the wrong. Also, I've recently learned that where I live, my normal 20% tip is considered stingy. I was told 25% is the new minimum. If this has become true everywhere I certainly never meant to be stingy and hope I'm not on this list. If it isn't true everywhere then good tips are relative. Without addresses this site can be quite entertaining. It can be quite useful if the same name shows up repeatedly posted by different servers. Have fun, vent, shame the b*tches, but do it responsibly. |
| Posted By: fed up Posted On: Aug 22, 2012 Views: 736 | shut down this site most people who tip, don't do it because they think the servers/staff deserve it. they do it because of group-think pressure, and they are afraid to appear cheap, unsophisticated, without etiquette, inconsiderate, or ignorant to those around them. i am disgusted by this feeling of entitlement by most servers. it seems now that if a business has a counter, there is a tip jar there. really? you rang me up and think that entitles you to a tip? please. some people even believe that if you can't afford to leave a tip, you can't afford to dine at the establishment and should just order take-out. really? the law only requires that i have to pay for my meal before i leave. if i leave without giving a tip, i have broken NO law, and thus a server's complaint is irrelevant, which means there is no basis for debate. if your livelihood is dependent upon people giving you their extra money that they aren't required to give you, and you can't make ends meet, yet you are STILL complaining, bitching, and moaning about the cheap customers, i think that is a reflection on YOUR intelligence (or lack thereof) and not so much a reflection on the customer. whenever i have felt that i wasn't earning enough money to create the quality of life i felt i deserved, i found a better job or went back to school to make myself more marketable so that i could find higher-paying work, and/or i worked two jobs. if i had the attitude of some mindless servers, i'd still be in the first low-wage, dead-end job i landed right out of college, complaining about why i can't get a better car, or a be a homeowner, or afford vacations ... get some common sense and stop looking at what others have as what should be given to you. it wouldn't be fun (or maybe it would) to see a counter site created that blasted the names, addresses, and employers of all of the servers/management that give crappy service and make diners never return. |
| Posted By: Auntie Posted On: Aug 18, 2012 Views: 761 | Another lost customer Going out is already too expensive as is, and if one adds in 'tips', the threshold of sanity (and decency) is passed. I rather eat at home and donate the huge savings to charity instead of visiting a badly run, mean place that makes beggars/blackmailers out of it's employees who depend on being bribed, instead of paying them decent wages and preserving their (and their customers') dignity. |
| Posted By: anonymous Posted On: Aug 12, 2012 Views: 1069 | tipping this website is ridiculous and it's not ok that private information is being shared to the world without these people knowing. this is kinda like biting the hand that feeds you. customers are the reason you have a job in the first place and it's not their fault you "have" to work in the service industry. there's not a law that says you even have to tip. customers work hard for their money too and sometimes i feel like supporting the establishment that gives you a paycheck is enough. if you're an outstanding server i will tip you, but there are so many run-of-the mill, "i hate my job" people that tipping isn't always something i want to do. nobody HAS to tip, just like nobody HAS to be in the service industry. go be a stripper if you're so dependent on dollar bills. sheesh. |
| Posted By: Maber Posted On: Jul 17, 2012 Views: 1218 | survey results You know damn well that everybody voting "take the whole thing down" are ****ty tippers and ****ty people (same thing) that are either listed here or checking to see if they are yet! |
| Posted By: Jilly Posted On: Feb 24, 2012 Views: 1159 | ignorant people who dont give a ****! I am a hairdresser and tired of ignorant people. Learn basic math, I provide excellent service to my clients. When you have services that cost $80-$90 a $5.00 tip is just lousy. Just to break it down. I have many more stories on how people just don't care :) |
| Posted By: Karol Posted On: Oct 13, 2011 Views: 1232 | To-Go orders I work for a big chain Italian restaurant doing to-go orders. I put together big $5- $500 orders with no tip given. Who do these people think put the order together? Me not a robot. Learn to tip its not like your ordering from Mcdonalds. |

| Posted By: zero Posted On: Mar 19, 2011 Views: 1634 | awwwww Yeah anyone who is so oblivious as to not know you are supposed to tip the delivery guy is either stupid, naive or both. I have never done that for a living and somehow I figured that out. If you don't like this website then you are probably one of those d bags who was lackluster on here. Don't cry, useless chump. Just leave what you are supposed to. |
