NYSC scheme should not be scrapped as many would want, bt instead should be modified and should also be voluntary

Killing all the prominent criminals is not a solution by itself. New criminals are born everyday, ready and willing to replace whichever one(s) expire. Besides, what about the non-prominent criminals? What should be done about them? Without a doubt, both greed and selfishness abound in the country, both of which are by-products of the economic downturn, with everyone trying desperately to grab what they can while they can. The youth are not exempt as they continue to thrive in one wicked vice or the other, be it racketeering, smuggling, hoarding, rituals, robbery, trafficking, fraud, et al. agreed, Dr. Dora Akunyili, a woman, has proven beyond doubt that she is a capable fellow, worthy of trust in a public position but I don't think the issue is necessarily that of age or gender. I believe that character is the principal element. The Americans proved this in the last elections. They disrobed themselves of the age-old "White-America" mentality and came out enforce to unanimously endorse that which had been declared 40 years earlier. That one day a man would be judged by the content of his character rather than by the color of his skin. I believe that we have such people of reputable character in the nigerian population, whether within or in diaspora. Perhaps if we collectively ask it of the almighty, HE may come to our aid as HE did when Abacha relinquished his hold on power, by making a way for men and women of exemplary character to find their way into positions of public authority with a view to challenging the problems plaguing nigeria, especially in the areas of the lack or total absence of creditable leadership, mal-administration and mismanagement.

Declaration of Assets by Public Office Holders

By forcing public officers to declare their assets before assuming public office and making a periodic confirmatatory check from time to time will discourage the looting of public money. The stealing of money by public office holders I consider as very unpatroitic and very disgraceful to the persons involved. Whether they like it or not, there is a consequence to be faced and sooner or later nemessis will catch up with them.

The Yar'Adua Style

At times, I seem lost at the stlye of administration of President Umaru Yar'Adua. This is because you get confused as to actually differntiate if he is being too slow or he is being careful in the way he does his things. Look at the Cabinet reshuffle. After several months of speculation, he only dropped 20 ministers without announcing their replacements, remember also that Health ministry is yet to get a substansive minister since March.

Should public office holders declare assets

i think it's a really good idea for any one who ants to run for public office to declare all his/her assets before assumption of office. this i belive will be a tool to check the rate of coruption among them. i would also prefer those assets declared to be checked against assets acquired during office and any discrepancies investigated.

Public office holder should declare there assets

Dear Editor,
Declaration of assets by public office holder is a very good idea.

1.At least this method will let us know if they are trust worthy and faithful to serve our nation or not.

2.This method will let us know if they embessel our money.

Faithfully,
I.Farua

THINK OF WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY.

NIGERIANS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE BEST WAY FOR A BETTER AND IMPROVED MARKET IS IF WE INVEST NOW.MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THAT THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A BAD MARKET,WHAT WE HAVE IS BAD INVESTORS.THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET SINCE PRICES ARE DEPRECIATING ,SO AT MAKING MORE INVESTMENTS WHICH WILL FORCE PRICES UP AND WE CAN REJUVINATE OUR STOCK MARKET. START INVESTING TODAY AND OFFLOADING YOUR SHARES AND YOU WILL FIND A MORE VIBRANT MARKET IN THE SHORTEST TIME. BE PATRIOTIC.

ASSETS DECLARATION

This is very necessary in this era of our growing democracy where majority of political office holder see it as way of having share of part of national cake.I wonder if all 140 millions Nigerian would all be public office holder.

DELARATION OF ASSETS BY PUBLIC OFFICERS

If we are sincere, have the fear of God and going there to serve the public genuinely, there is no need to force anyone to declare asset before doing so.
