odd question...

here's a question. It's a bit odd but I don't give a ****, it's cold as ****.

Anybody know how to fix a floor furnace that won't come on? It's 15 bloody degrees here. My nuts almost froze off when I got out of the shower. The pilot is on, it's got gas, and the safety switch is fine.

Not at 6am, besides, they wont work on these old floor furnaces. The thing is probably older than Grandma.

RE: odd question...

leave the gas running overnight, then in the morning try using a lighter, either the pilot is too weak or the gas pipe is clogged. if that doesn't work the ventilation in the furnace is the problem, poke some holes in it with a screwdriver

LOL

anyway, I fixed it. Sorry to bother you people. Gas line was really gunked up. Still had the old cast iron? I switched to a flex hose I got at Lowes. It started right back up.

RE: odd question...

I have a floor heater too, but mine is pretty new and uses a heated element to ignite the gas instead of a flame. Problem with mine is it never heats the place up enough even when I set it to 80+ degrees. There's air coming out but it doesn't feel very warm... my gas bill is still super high, so I wonder what's happening with all the gas. Worked fine last year.
