RE: People's kids

oh shut up! we do not. you are probably one of those people that write a newsletter to go with your christmas cards. i have some news for you. nobody cares how good your kid did in school last year.

he/she is just jealous because nobody gave a rat's ass about them as a kid.

RE: People's kids

no he/she is not jealous. he/she was well looked after as a kid. he/she thinks it is high time you faced the reality that outside a few close relatives, nobody cares about your kids and does not want to hear about them. we don't care it they are an honor student. we don't care what age they learned to walk/talk/read/ride a bike. we are not interested in seeing pictures of them because we are tired of having to lie and say "how cute" when really we are thinking the kid makes john merrick look like a supermodel. we are tired of hearing how intelligent he/she is while they spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to work a water fountain. your kids are not as cute as you think, not as smart as you think, and not as interesting as you think. stop talking about them all the time. don't believe me? stop talking about them and see how often coworkers, friends, and family come to you and say 'you must tell me what is going on with your kids!'. it isn't going to happen.

btw, when we get those stupid christmas newsletters, we all say 'self-absorbed assholes' and throw them away without reading them.

RE: People's kids

please realize that you are speaking for yourself. people are no less interested in other people's kids than what someone did over the weekend. it depends on your interest and whether someone can tell a decent story or not.

what a sad person you are weeze. i hope that someday you will find love to fill your heart with, instead of hate.

RE: People's kids

I don't think people are as self-absorbed or as big of assholes as some people are making it out to be, but I do think you're probably more likely to be interested in other people's kids if you have kids of your own. It's the same with pets. If you have kids & no pets, you would probably rather hear about other people's kids than other people's pets. If you have pets and no kids, you'd probably rather hear about pets than kids. If you have neither you may not be really interested in hearing about either. That doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it though. And even though sending cards (with or without newsletter) isn't my thing, I still think anyone who would be actually mad that someone took the time to send them a card probably has mental issues that should be addressed.

RE: People's kids

I actually agree with weeze on this one, and I don't believe we need to say "he/she" but rather just leave it at a she. My gf has a kid, and yes some of the stuff that goes on is funny, but it's still just an event that's experienced by everyone in the world so I don't really think that we all need to be reminded of it, and I especially don't want to have a pukefest 2008 when every chickadee responds with an "oh that's so cute!!" or "awww how sweet".

He's also spot on with the self absorbed piece, far too many people think that we should all get involved with their family matters. It's like they try to suck us in and drill our heads with stories and pictures of things that are just not all that interesting...blah, generic "keeping up with the Jones" types.

peace and love
