cops?

the most annoying thing when walking the streets, is cops. they profile you, annoy you, arrest people, and generally ruin a good time, especially at night. any one agree for different reasons? there are many reasons why they suck ass though.

RE: RE: cops?

The problem with cops is for every one that is out there doing their job right and genuinely interested in public safety, there are nine more that are totally on an ego trip. They were losers in school that became hall monitors or security guards at the mall so they could finally have some power. These are the assholes that drive around 20+ MPH over the speed limit, turn their lights on to get through red lights, and then ticket and lecture someone for going 5MPH over the limit. They harass local businesses into giving them free food and threaten anyone they don't like with false charges. These guys are then the first one to cry about the public not respecting them and the dangers they face. I wonder why fireman don't have that problem and they have an equally dangerous job.

The funniest thing is one of these Neanderthals gets caught, destroying their career and costing their town hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal expenses. That false sense of superiority disappears really quick. I don't have any tickets and I have never had any issues with cops. I just recognize corruption when I see it.

RE: cops?

hey, think about the cop's point of view. wherever he's trying to go, people in front of him slow down to the speed limit or lower. when he's flashing his lights, people slow down and become unpredictable, not being sure whether to pull to the right or stay where they are. If I were him I'd probably try to speed past people too.

the majority of cops are good people who would rather not be passing out traffic tickets. harassing local businesses? that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. meals on the job are compensated anyway so it doesn't matter to them whether or not they get a meal for free. just because a business owner is trying to kiss ass, it doesn't mean the cop is corrupt.

RE: cops?

Maybe in neighborhood make-believe everything is sunny and cops are all hard working good guys but here in the real world that just isn't happening.

You cannot claim to uphold the law and then violate it constantly. A cop that speeds and then hands out speeding tickets tells everyone very clearly what kind of scum he is. It's hypocrisy and abuse of the system no matter how you try to justify it.

Like politicians, cops are expected to be impartial. That means accepting gifts and free meals is unacceptable. Expecting or accepting free anything is corruption.

Sounds like you are either (a) a wannabe bad cop that is still in the hall monitor/security guard phase, (b) already a bad cop, or (c) related to a bad cop and in denial.

RE: cops?

For what it's worth, most states have specific Vehicle Code sections that exempt police officers and similar emergency workers from specific other vehicle codes (like speeding, running red lights, etc.) during emergency situations. Whether or not this is being abused in your area is another issue.

RE: cops?

Those are minor infractions at worst, on the rare occasions that they do occur. And you're right, cops shouldn't be accepting free meals - but the majority of them don't. Does that make the ones that do accept free meals complete scumbags? It's nothing compared to the type of people they have to deal with on a daily basis.

Sounds like you are either (a) the jealous son of a cop who couldn't live up to his dad's standards, (b) a pot growing college drop-out who's had a few run-ins with cops, or (c) an idiot who blames his poor driving skills on the cops who pull him over.

RE: cops?

Here is the real world cops are constantly breaking the law. I can't tell you how many times I have seen them speeding (no not in an emergency. I think we all know they are allowed in certain situations, Erik). Usually they are speeding off to find a secluded place to take a nap or grab some donuts. And yes, if a cop is accepting free meals he/she is a scumbag. Who they deal with on a daily basis is irrelevant. Where is it written that it is OK to be corrupt as long as it isn't as bad as the people you are arresting?

a) nope
b) nope
c) nope. spotless record. Of course if you knew how to read and comprehend what you read, you would know this already.

I'm sorry, that is 3 strikes. You lose. Thanks for playing though.

"Usually they are speeding off to find a secluded place to take a nap or grab some donuts."

Serious stuff. Maybe next time you witness that you should call Internal Affairs, they won't laugh in your face.

I know how to read, I just assumed you were lying or B.S.ing as you were with everything else you posted.

No, we all don't post like you do. My posts are not lies or BS unlike yours.

I certainly not going to call and report every cop violating the law. First of all, I don't have that kind of time. That would practically be a second job. Second, of course they would ignore it. Crooked cops protect crooked cops. On the news last night we had another bad cop get caught on a DUI over 3 times the limit. After they pulled him over the drunk cop told the arresting cop that he can't arrest one of his own. Then he told him he better not catch him in his jurisdiction. Then he told him he has let literally hundreds of other cops off when he has caught them. The only surprising thing about it all is that they did anything though in typical fashion he was not actually charged with DUI, he was just put on paid leave.
