He said it is the turn of Kuudu Family to nominate the candidate for the throne and this has been approved by the consenting authority to the stool according to the provisions of the Pahayi Chieftaincy rules. The secretary said by tradition and custom of Pahayi, only a person who is of Pahayi origin and or descent of Kuudu as the prescribed authority could be made Baale of Pahayi. He added that the history of Pahayi confirmed the tradition and affirmed that the Baale of Pahayi shall be of Pahayi/Kuudu descent/origin. The association however, expressed concern that many years after the demise of the Late Baale, the Paramount Ruler was yet to appoint and give instrument of office to the new Baale of Pahayi land. According to Alani, the continued recognition of the Igbimo Ilu Pahayi without a Baale amounted to an outright denial of the community’s inalienable right to determine and select substantive traditional ruler of the town. He said the continued nonexistence of the traditional ruler had created mistrust and disaffection in the area, resulting to bottled-up anger that is capable of causing breakdown of law and order. While appealing to the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, and the Olu-in-Council to consider Pahayi Baaleship in the next chieftancy ceremony to be held in April this year, urged Oba Olugbenle to check the records, the association alleged that some powerful individuals in Pahayi and environs had compromised government officials to subvert the wish of the people of the community, but we believe in your authority and what you stand for that justice shall prevail. |

In a press statement issued by Akanbi in Lagos on Tuesday, He said that the concern ruling house had already concluded arrangements to present formidable candidates for the vacant throne to usher in a democratically traditional ruler for Pahayi-land, adding that it is now left for the Paramount Ruler and Olu-in-council do the needful Akanbi added that they would resist with the last drop of their blood, any attempt by any group of people to manipulate or stop the recommendation of Fadairo led community without recourse to the tenets of democracy. The situation in Pahayi is so dicey that if the Paramount Ruler or state government did not handle it well, crisis may erupt any moment as youths are gearing in that direction but are held back by the elders. In most quarters it is believed that it is the turn of OLUGBENSI RULING HOUSE, which comprises of KUUDU, LAFENWA, FAYOMI and OLUGBENSI FAMILIES to produce the next Baale of the primordial town, and the Kuudu Family has been agitating for one of them to become the next Baale. The latest introduction Muyideen popularly called Yemmydeen who is believed not to have any claim to the throne is a surprise to many people in the community. Muyideen who at a time was allegedly suffering from some form of psychiatric disorder came into the scene through some chiefs including the Otun Baale of the town, and Madam Adekunle who is the widow of the former Baale after they had gotten some financial inducements. Another person that has entered the race is Hon. Wasiu Olawunmi who spent four years in Ogun State House of Assembly and during his tenure made no meaningful contribution to the development of the ancient town, not even a single project. And like Muyideen he is not entitled to the throne based on history and tradition of the town because his family has no link to it. Recently some angry youths after a meeting vowed to make the community ungovernable for the paramount-ruler of Yewaland if he fails to intervene on the matter because Mr. Muyideen and Hon. Wasiu Olawunmi are claiming that they have secured both the backing of Olu Ilaro Kehinde Gbadewole and that of Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs in the state. Indigenes of Pahayi , Yewa South in Ogun State hereby appeal to the state government to resolve the issue, which has been lingering for several years. The absence of a traditional ruler in the community had led to moral, social and economic decadence.
