Well, it hurts. I cant fall asleep at all, because I have to sleep on my back, and it is really tight around my ribs. Any advice please? :( -JULIANA |
| Posted By: Shelby Posted On: Feb 28, 2009 Views: 690 | Concerned I'm in the 8th grade and i found out that i have scoliosis arounf November. I went back for a folow up wednesday and they had told me my curves have progressed about 4 degrees in three months. My curves went from 40* to 44* and 28 to 33*. I just got fitted for a brace yesterday. Dancing has been my life since i was 3. 3 hours a day mon- thurs. I don't want to get made un of at school by people. I'm concerned that if my curves still progress and i have to get surgery, then dancing will be a struggle for me... any advice? please. |
| Posted By: megan Posted On: Feb 13, 2009 Views: 736 | getting worried.. I have been diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine since i was in high school and am still struggling with coping with it and i am now 26. i had a back brace which helped but got fiercly bullied by my peers. my weight has been severly effected by my scoliosis..eat like a pig and seem to just put on very little weight and am getting depressed somewhat with this but just recently(in past month) have noticed that my left hand side of back is straight and the other is somewhat curved and is starting to effect me at work..work in a care home in the kitchen so am always on my feet and standing at a sink but also do stuff like laying tables things are becoming difficult..simple things like sitting and sleeping but am taking painkillers to get me through the day and have finally got it into my head that i HAVE to take painkillers and keep up with them to survive a days work or just even going to the shop. Would love to hear from people who are in a similiar position to me and learn of how you cope with this |
| Posted By: katie Posted On: Jan 27, 2009 Views: 351 | you can talk to me I know what you are talking about. I've had a body brace for 4 years before my surgery.I have... had 2 curves so they kinda kept my head where it should be. I top curve was a 60 degrese curve before they fixed it. If you would like someone to talk to... hi. If not then too bad. If you do want to talk i'm telling you now i'm a bit crazy at times. 8D *for anyone who is depresed* Get a horse or dog they wont make fun of you. |

| Posted By: Kathy Posted On: Jan 2, 2009 Views: 262 | Mild Scoliosis My elder sister and brother were given inversion exercises as babies. But I was not because I had Kawasaki. Then recently I went to the National Sports Institute in my country (I am an athlete) to check on my shoulder. Who knew we would discover I had scoliosis... Now I understand why I always lean to the left... |

| Posted By: robin Posted On: Sep 28, 2008 Views: 607 | scoliosis I am 48 years old and had a spinal fusion when iI was 10 and another when I was 12. My left shoulder blade extends out and my right one is flat. I am a d/b manager at a grocery store and have back pain almost everyday of my life. The pain does not get better with age, it gets worse. I have to try not to think about it alot. If I thought about it all the time would never get out of bed. People that do not have it can not imagine the pain is causes, the muscle spasms or the fatigue that accompanys it. It's is nice to know that I am not the only one that suffers from constant back pain. I wish they could come up with a way to remove or flaten the over-developed shoulder blade. That would take away a lot of pain. |

| Posted By: melissa Posted On: Sep 10, 2008 Views: 514 | scoliosis i am 24 i have recently found out i have scoliosis i also have arthritis and a herniated disc so i thought all my very painful pain was from that but turns out the scoliosis is the culprit , i have problems with my menstral cycle sometimes i get it 3x's a month its usually never on time ever and sometimes i will go without if for 8 months and then bleed for a month straight but i do have PCOS and im sure thats the cause of that ! but i have lots of hip problems mainly the right side and knee gives out and pain in my foot alot mainly all on my right side along with the painful irritating muscle spasms mainly on my right side although my left shoulder is what hurts me not my right one .........i now know that scoliosis sucks but i am looking for a better doc so i can get more help !! |

| Posted By: Vera Saveljev Posted On: Aug 21, 2008 Views: 409 | Scoliosis I am 27 years old and I've been diagonosed with scoliosis and I have it at 18 degrees. I believe that the curvature in my spine is much worse than my docter says. When I lay on my belly on the floor you can actually put soup in my back and eat from it as if it were a bowl. I am in cronic pain and in the early stages of physical therapy. But it only pains me more and if therapy fails me, my docter has already said that I will have surgery and he seems more afraid than myself. GOD BLESS ME AND ALL OF YOU WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS DEBILATATING DISEASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Posted By: CASANDRA Posted On: Aug 10, 2008 Views: 403 | Scoliosis Hello i am a 30 year old woman who have scoliosis. I had 8 surgeries at age 13. The reason why is because i had the rods put in and my body is so sensitive that it set up infection, they couldn't get my fever down so i had to stay in the hospital for a month so the doctor had to take the rods out. But so far i work every day with pain that i just deal with day by day because i can't see myself going through with the surgery again. |
| Posted By: Melanie Posted On: Jul 21, 2008 Views: 420 | this poll I think it is interesting that foot arch problems are on here. I have been dealing with Scoliosis my whole life and feel like I know so little about it. I have even had back surgery at age 12 to correct it with much success. (with titanium rods and hooks implants and rib deformation correction). I still feel like I know so little. But I do have extreme flat feet.My ankles pronate and touch the ground. I have been told I have early stages arthritis in them and have many other orthopedic and joint problems. Anybody else out there almost 26 or around my age with all of these problems? |
