| Posted By: Pamela Posted On: Aug 25, 2008 Views: 26 | Neil Curtis You're right, Dee. It would be great to have Neil back. Since he and Maggie have a past, it could throw her and Mickey into a triangle--which would be interesting to play out. Not only that, but as I mentioned before, DAYS needs to utiliize its musical talents, and Joe Gallison (Neil) has a wonderful voice. I'll never forget when, as Steven Cord on Return to Peyton Place, he sang at Selena Cross's (Margaret Mason) wedding. Perhaps now a retired doctor, he and Doug could partner up and open another club, and both could sing there--as well as Chloe. Sort of a neo-Doug's Place (the original singers were Trish [Patty Weaver] and Geri [Kaye Stevens] Clayton, Doug [Bill Hayes], and sometimes Robert Le Clare [Robert Clary].) it could be THE plaace to go after dinner at Chez Rouge. Oh well, just a thought... |

| Posted By: Pamela Posted On: Aug 19, 2008 Views: 172 | DAYS' current stories I know very little about the behind-the-scenes stuff that is going down. But the show does need some stability, and perhaps the lack of it on screen reflects what is going on in the boardroom. I've been watching the show off and on for decades, and I remember the romance. The way I saw it, soaps seemed to have different genres within the genre. The Edge of Night was the crime drama soap. General Hospital was the medical soap. DAYS ws the musical soap--with people like Bill Hayes, Patty Weaver, and so many others singing regularly for one reason or another. I would love to see this type of thing come back. PASSIONS tried to be the campy soap--and it had quite a following, but not enough, since it was moved to DirecTV, and ultimately cancelled. DAYS has the lovely Nadia Bjorlin, as well as Bill Hayes (who could buy another restaurant and bring back Doug's Place). They could somehow reinfuse the music into the show. And I wish we could bring back Brady--he and Chloe were soulmates, and I always thought their love would last forever. However, failing that, this new pairing of Chloe and Lucas is starting to grow on me. I always believed that the way to tell if a person is your soulmate is one question--does he/she bring out the best in you, and do you do the same for them? I used to be pro-Sami & Lucas, but now I much prefer Sami with EJ. As for Nicole, I'm not quite sure where she fits. I loved her friendship with Ava--too bad Tamara Braun had to leave. I would love to see DAYS rehash a storyline that Another World did aeons ago, wherein a notorious mobster, Carl Hutchins, underwent a complete metamorphosis--slowly and believably--because of his love for Rachel Cory. Perhaps Nicole could be that woman for Stefano. But for it to work, it would have to be gradual, unfolding like a rose, one petal at a time. One big problem with plots these days is that they are shoved down our throats too quickly, without giving us a chance to wonder what is really going on. And by the time other layers are revealed, people are turned off and want to flip the remote. Now in contrast to popular opinion, I LOVED the Colleen-Santo story, the romance, and the final outcome (that John was really their child. He should blow everyone's minds and take his given name--Ryan DiMera, and spend as much time explooring his Brady roots as he has his DiMera roots. After all, he is both a Brady and a DiMera.) Another thing, I much prefer Marlena with Roman and Kate with John. But I don't dislike Marlena and John. If she can help Old John resurface--at least in part (perhaps helping him to reintegrate the two of them into an entirely new person who is an interesting blend of the two--this could be when he takes the name Ryan--) it would be wonderful to watch. And here's another idea. DAYS hasn't had a case of dissociative identity disorder since Jessica (Nick's mother) as a teenager. Why not let that happen to Nicole, since it often happens as a result of childhood sexual abuse? It would be a challenge for both Ariane Zucker and Deidre Hall to play out. And it could be an excuse to bring back Faye and Brandon Walker (maybe even Taylor) for a limited run, even if only in flashbacks. Paul would need to resurace in flashbacks as well, to torment his daughter while she's under hypnosis and bring out her alters. Finally, MORE DOUG & JULIE, PLEASE!!! The writers need to show romance at any age, and Doug & Julie's love is eternal. |
| Posted By: Angela Posted On: Aug 19, 2008 Views: 165 | Hope it works I am glad Ed Scott is gone as he has been making changes that did not need to be made. I am interested in seeing what Gary Tomlin brings to the table. I am wanting to see Daniel and Chelsea on the screen and together as they make a great couple. Hopefully Ken Corday, Dena Higley and Gary Tomlin will all work together to make this happen! |
| Posted By: Mason Posted On: Aug 18, 2008 Views: 150 | Gary Tomlin Corday could hire Aaron freaking Sorkin to be the show's new Co-EP, and it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference as long as that hack Dena Higley is still writing the show. SHE's the problem, so SHE is the one that needs to go before anyone else. Her crappy stories are what's killing the show. |
| Posted By: Diane Tilley Posted On: Aug 18, 2008 Views: 65 | Gary Tomlin I'm excited about Gary's new appointment. Maybe he can breath some new life into the show. I hope that he encourages the Daniel/Chelsea storyline. They are such a wonderful acting team and have so much to add to the show. I hope he can take some of the tired old s/lines out and bring some new stuff to Days. |
