| Posted By: Derek Zalme Posted On: Dec 19, 2008 Views: 1993 | Sexy Ad I feel that the ad is appopriate for what you are selling beings it is water recreation related. I really hope that some people who feel this ad is innapropriate don't expect to see people fully clothed while swimming... now that would be a little strange! There are too many uptight people who are stuck in the 50's who think that sex is used too much to sell merchandise these days but come on these are just bathing suits, it's not like these ladies are topless and sporting thongs! It's a decent ad but maybe you should throw at least one dude in the mix so it's not considered sexist by some on-lookers. |
| Posted By: Quentin Bowman Posted On: Dec 6, 2008 Views: 2000 | Nice ad Are you serious? Do you have nothing better to do with your time than to complain about a billboard with a few beautiful girls on a beautiful float on a beautiful lake. I think that the girls just compliment the beautiful place we live, we are so lucky to have scenery like that available to us (I'm referring to the lake as well). The billboard should stay and people who complain about such trivial things should go! |
| Posted By: Surespan Posted On: Sep 29, 2008 Views: 1789 | Billboards photos 3 cameras were used over 360 photos were taken and yes there is a boy in photos. Im not sure how you get your info but you may want to check it out. Or just calm down. |
| Posted By: Lia Err Posted On: Sep 25, 2008 Views: 1347 | Ad Im glad to know that the manager of Sure Span is a liar. I know for a fact there were not "hundreds" of photos taken nor were there photos of boys taken. The comment on painting nun clothing on them es ridiculous, grow up! |
| Posted By: Erica McDonald Posted On: Sep 24, 2008 Views: 1362 | Sexy Billboard What should the girls swimming wear? PARKAS. Get over it, as far as I'm concerned it could be alot worse. |
| Posted By: Ashley Marston Posted On: Sep 23, 2008 Views: 926 | Billboard When I first saw the Billboard last week...My husband and I had a little laugh. I thought " What a great way to get your attention" After the newspaper srticle had been brought to my attention. I wasnt surprised that someone was offened. The thing is...if this billboad was posted in the city, we wouldnt even be having this disscussion. I think that using the local girls on a local lake is a great idea, and after learning that I like it even more. Great Job! |
| Posted By: Cal Oleksuk Posted On: Sep 19, 2008 Views: 967 | Ad I loved your editorial comment about putting nun clothing on the girls to make a statement! I think you should go ahead with this plan just prior to the end of the ad term to make a statement to all these overly sensitive and inappropriate feminists who are bold enough to make comments but blind enough to not see we live in a world where these types of ads are not the impact they would have been 50 years ago. I would hope the exposure would be positively seen by those of us with a healthy sense of humor. |
| Posted By: rick Posted On: Sep 18, 2008 Views: 1075 | sexy ads Are the people that complained members of some sort of Moslem group that wishes to hide women away. Perhaps the complainers wish to move to Iraq or Iran, it would be better for them |
| Posted By: David Wright Posted On: Sep 18, 2008 Views: 1059 | Sexy ad. Looks just fine to me. Please print a photo of the original complainant. I have a bet with a friend that her lips are naturally pursed. In fact I think her lips are probably so pursed that she resembles the north end of a southbound cat. |
| Posted By: squarepeg Posted On: Sep 18, 2008 Views: 1007 | Sexy ad. As a mother of four teenage daughters, I would be thrilled if one of them were photographed for such an advertisement. I wholeheartedly approve of the company's local approach, but agree that perhaps in order to allay charges of sexism, next time it would be better to have a mixture of young men and women. Great advertising campaign! |
| Posted By: Brenda Posted On: Sep 17, 2008 Views: 953 | sexy ad. I think it'd be okay if the girls weren't sixteen and wearing tiny bikinis. Shame on you. |
| Posted By: Miss Linda Posted On: Sep 17, 2008 Views: 871 | Sexy Ad Being a woman, I am a little offended that anytime a woman is photographed and used for advertising someone just has to scream sexism in advertising. I see that same image on the lakes every summer; beatiful lake, beautiful hills in the backgoung and beautiful people (men and women). I don't see the ladies in the picture acting inappropriately so how can the image be viewed as offensive. Quite frankly, we live in a beautiful place and should be enjoying it - not picking apart billboards. If it is the fact that an individual inteprets the photo as being offensive because it is being used in advertising, they need to start writing a few more letters. Hope the writer doesn't wear make-up, any specific clothing label or use hair products because they all use beautiful women as a way of getting you to notice their product. Watch out Vogue, "this day and age" is getting offended! Perhaps SureSpan can alter the bikinis to leaves and change the name to eco-float, then the advertising might be veiwed as being appropriate (saving the planet and all). Secretly, I am just jealous that I don't look quite as nice in a bikini anymore! Lighten up people! By the way, nice float!! |
| Posted By: Gary Hill Posted On: Sep 17, 2008 Views: 885 | Sexy ad When was the last time you heard a negative comment from a woman (Gosh--I sure hope that's a politically correct term!) regarding the rash of sexy Policemen and Firemen calenders that have been done recently as fundraisers? In this day and age, when women also purchase docks, I think equal time should be given to having hunks on the docks in your next ad. PS Please be explicit with the artist if you do have to paint over the girls and specify "nun attire," not "none attire." |
| Posted By: James Wolfe Posted On: Sep 17, 2008 Views: 793 | Sexy ad. Thank you for an excellent response to the latest bit of daft political correctness. Please do not dress the girls as nuns - that really would be a bad habit to get into. I'm surprised you have not yet been bundled into the BC Human Rights Tribunal for such affrontery. Do you think Canada will ever grow up? I voted 'YES' and was proud to do so. Great publicity, too. |
