Microsoft certification

Objectively speaking, no certificate can take place of experience, but it doesn¡¯t mean you don¡¯t need the Microsoft certificate.

TIME TO UPDATE ISPS

If ISPS rules out carrying professional security teams, it needs modifying to accomodate the realities of the present threat. Navies can't do their jobs if they are more than 20 minutes helicopter time away from an attack!

ISPS Code

I guess the employment of armed security teams is against the ISPS Code. Weapons are not allowed on vessels and in opinion it is a good regulation. Let the Navy do their job.

Pirates at sea

Trained Arm Security is the best answer. It would be cool to see one of these pirate boats get hit with a RPG. Hope they can swim. Just like training a dog, after a few times, they learn.

PIRACY DETERRENT

Drop Leaflets on Pirates land based areas.
SAY: "Piracy will no longer be tolerated and prisoners will no longer be taken". Follow through with lethal force against pirates.

ANTIPIRACY DEVICES

The pirates certainly got to know there wre antipiracy devices on board, because their ears were hurting.

Meantime, another bunch of pirates probably now have their own LRAD--left behind by the security team who had to jump for it!

Pirates

Do you think it was wise to reveal the presence of anti-piracy systems aboard the cruise ship attacked last week. This my encourage the pirates to get a bit bolder. Loose lips sink ships or at least get them boarded or harrassed.

Happy holidays to all!

Beating the pirates

OK - a "non-lethal" security team didn't work .. next step s surely a "lethal" security team.

JUMPING SECURITY

Seems the security guards who had to jump for it were unarmed--except for a "non lethal" sonic weapon. The problem with "non lethal" weapons is that they ARE non-lethal, kinda like arming guys with pistols that when you pull the trigger a flag comes out the muzzle with BANG written on it!

Pirates

What kind of security team would bail out when under attack? Seems like wannabe "rent a mercenaries". Guess they were there for moral support! Fit out every ship with a few 50 calibers and a few M-79's. Arrrrrrrrrh!

Re: Air Surveillance

I'm quite certain various unknown craft in the water off East Africa are being tracked by various means, including satellite.

The problem becomes identification.

You can't launch air, ship, or land based missiles at a target without a visual ID. It only takes 1 mistake, and boom, there goes a ship from the World Food Programme.

The tracking part is easy. It's the getting close enough for an ID part that is the problem.
