Any pirates that are captured in the process should be hanged in public as has been done for hundreds of years. They will lose interest very quickly. The other option is the Mystery or Q ships used by the British in WWII to lure in U-Boats expecting an easy (and inexpensive) kill with their deck gun. A heavily armed and armored ship disguised as a merchant vessel (possibly in distress). When the pirate vessel gets in close, the Commandos that have been at the ready "let fly" on the pirates with light and medium weapons. It claimed quite a few U-Boats! |

Seem the yards would not build to GL class so owners had them built under different class and then changed them to GL following delivery. I think the class society that supervised their building and also the yards should be revealed. They might have used the the same yard that built the LPD-17 to train their welders. Time to tighten the reigns on these rogue yards in the far east before we start to see major accidents. If they can't weld how can they build diesel engines under license? |

Connect a threaded fitting to accomodate a water injection line to accelerate the fill of the hull as needed. HOW FRICKING HARD IS THAT? Rats WILL abandon a sinking vessel. Once complete, reverse the flow and right the ship. All weapon shipments are waterproof. |

It is a long and hard learning cycle. 2. Patrolling coastal waters is a new political arena for control. Even the Arctic is not spared. Let alone millions of dollars getting pumped into international waters. If freight companies pay, frt rate would go up to break even going round Cape of Good Hope. USE WATER: We cut steel using water jets these days. A good system of hull nozzles arrayed around the hull can cut these "pirates" into bits. It adds to an extra "Security sprinkler system" on board with auto settigs. |

These scruffy bandits are beginning to proliferate like flies. Now, with the deployment of some of the navies of the world to problem areas the simple solution is to shoot on sight any vessel with improper intentions. We should also cut off all humanitarian aid to any country that harbors such vermin. |

IN THE NARROWS IN VICINITY OF BAB AL MANDAB, PASSING FROM ARABIAN SEA IN TO THE RED SEA "PATRIA", FULLY LOADED WITH PERSIAN ( PRESENTLY IRANIAN) CRUDE OIL WAS APPROACHED BY THE UNIDENTIFIED "FISHING CUTTER" AND ONLY THANKS TO OUR CREW OF ISRAELI RESERVE SOLDIERS WITH GUNS WHO PREVENTED SHOOTING ON US WITH GRENADE LAUNCHERS AT CLOSE ENOUGH RANGE. DUE TO UNPOPULAR AT THIS TIME QUESTION OF LEGALITY OF HAVING MACHINE GUNS ON BOARD OF MERCHANT VESSEL THIS WASN'T "WIDELY ADVERTISED". Gotta say that I never felt safer at sea. It seems like U.S. flagged vessels should be able to "borrow" some of our troops to help protect our interests at sea. At present we send our guys to die guarding some pretty shakey foreign lands all in the name of "policy". How bad would it be to ask the government to help us protect americans on american vessels? |

Will we see a kinder and gentler USCG or gun toting petty officers harrassing licensed officers? As enforcement hasn't been hammered out yet this should be interesting as well. A note to US bunker suppliers and barge companies. Time to see accurately executed BDR's, aka complete and legible, appropriate Marpol recognized sampling procedures, and delivering vessel/barge stamps on all documents. Remember, here in the US it is the barge name that is important not the name of the tug pushing or towing it! Enjoy and safe voyage to all! |
