Can't we all get along????
I'm not a smoker but I respect the rights of those who want to smoke. The separate room for smoking in restaurants has already been tried, and failed. If you want to see a great set-up for both smokers and non-smokers, you need to go to Brick's restaurant. They have installed "purifans" in their ceiling fans that draw in the smoke from the smokers and runs it through a carbon filter. My wife is highly allergic to cigarette smoke but she is able to eat at Brick's even when there are several smokers just a short distance away. Maybe some other businesses could try this too.
We don't need any more government controls on our lives. Too much big brother, for sure!

Banning Smoking

We have lived for years smoking where ever we want. I agree with the guy who said make a closed in place for smokers in Restaraunts and other places for the smokers..From what I read and Hear on the News everything is going to kill us.

Smoking Ban

If the people of this town would worry more about what needs to be worried about, ie safety in the schools for our children, crooked politicians, etc....instead of where you can and cannot smoke this town might be a little better. I moved away for a reason, however due to an accident had to temporarily come back. If your so deadset against smoking do what other resturants have done. Build an enclosed "smoking room" then all might be happy!!!

Smoking

Smoking should be allowed in bars/pubs, but not in resturants. People know smoking is bad and they still do it, but others needs to lay off if i want to smoke i have every right to, and i do. But the point is in places where food is consumed soking should be banned but in bars let people smoke

Smoking

I have a desk ornament in my office that says "if you don't smoke then I won't fart".

I mean it.

I just wish single women would somehow mark themselves as smokers (maybe a tattoo on the forehead) so I would know in advance. There are very few things as nasty as kissing someone who smokes.

It is like kissing an ashtray.

The thing I really hate is going to a restaurant and having stratified stale cigarette smoke in the air. It ruins the flavor and smell of the food.

Let people smoke at home? Sure. But don't force me to put up with it at work or in the public.

smoking ban

WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT STILL ALLOW THE SALES AND PURCHASE OF SMOKING TOBACCO IF IT ISN'T GOING TO BE LEGAL TO CONSUME IT ANYWHERE BESIDES IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR HOME/PERSONAL PROPERTY?

IT IS NOT AN ILLEGAL DRUG, QUIT TREATING IT AS IF IT WERE.

WHAT IS WINFIELD GOING TO DO IF ALL THE SMOKING TOBACCO USERS GO TO CHEWING TOBACCO... BAN SPITTING IN PUBLIC PLACES? OR WON'T THEY REMEMBER THAT TOO WAS CONSIDERED AT ONE TIME TO BE HARMFUL TO OTHERS (IE SPREAD OF TB IN THE LATE 19TH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY)?

Smoking Ban

I'm completely for a smoking ban. And I think bars/clubs should be included. And why not be like Winfield? Why not be like New York City? Why not be like the entire state of California? Your probably rambling off something about those left-wing Democrat nutjobs, and how you'd never live in a place filled with long haired hippies. Every major city and many states (to include, very conservative Texas) have either outlawed smoking in public places (to include bars/clubs) or are in the works of putting together legislation for it. Nonsmokers shouldn't have to put up with the dangers or annoyance of cigarette and cigar smoke.

I don't think we need to do everything that Winfield does.

Smoking

Personally I've always felt too much was being made of the dangers. Check outside the hospitals and doctors offices and see how many employees are outside on breaks to smoke.

That aside. Since I quit smoking I find the smell of smoke offensive. I say, let them smoke in bars and private clubs if they want.
The people who don't want to smoke will go to other bars and clubs and if the reports from two of them in the paper are correct, the one without smoking will see little change, but the one with smoking will see it's business cut in half, then the problem will solve itself?

Smoking

I think it's harmful. Should be outlawed altogether. Smokers are a danger to themselves and the rest of us. They are sick & off work more. They have major health problems that the rest of us have to pay for. Just quit.
