| Posted By: Elizabeth Edwards Posted On: Dec 15, 2008 Views: 2223 | New Palm It wson't matter what they come up with if it won't work on 64-bit computers. We will all have to go to a phone that does eventually |
| Posted By: Chuck Darwin Posted On: Dec 15, 2008 Views: 2234 | Dream Palm There is absolutely no reason why Palm can't hit a home run with the next OS. Palm has a management team in place that did the same thing with the iPhone, so why not? They just need to make a high quality product that's easy to use and has a good and good-looking interface. It should be made out of something that feels high quality. In other words, some kind of metal. Or at least an upscale model in metal. It interface must be much better than Palm's current interface. Scrolling must be improved. Currently you have to choose between a page at a time with the buttons or about a 5 pixel wide scroll bar on the right. Neither is satisfactory for web surfing or, frankly, for reading documents. Particular attention must also be paid to the phone interface, and to the interface between the phone and the contacts book. The look of the interface must be top-notch. It must have built-in interoperability with Microsoft VPN and push e-mail through that service. Its battery must last a long time. It must have at least QWVGA resolution, widescreen view, and a decent screen size. The web browser must be Java capable, must run Youtube. Palm must offer a version without camera, and should ideally fill up the space with more battery capacity. Li-ion batteries can be manufactured in any shape. Seriously, this is needed for certain business users such as attorneys, who are barred from bringing photo-capable phones inside federal and some state courtrooms. I'd pay more for a cameraless version with larger battery capacity. It needs a good built in digital ink app. I bet Palm could buy Pennovate Notes; it should at least implement something similar. Its music player should interface with iTunes, at least as well as Amazon's download service does. |
| Posted By: JB Posted On: Dec 15, 2008 Views: 2268 | Palm is no more I have waited for years for Palm to catch up to the rest of the world and they have proven they are leaving the PALM OS and moving to Windows for the professional or more robust hardware. Looks like Ia m moving to the Google phone and Android. Nice knowing you Palm, too bad you had to leave us. |
| Posted By: RaeG Posted On: Dec 15, 2008 Views: 907 | Quattro I live in Vegas an I am so exicted to hear that Palm will be making some sort of announcement at the next convention. Hey, if anyone has any extra tickets to CES-there's a local Treonaut who would love a ticket!!!!! |

| Posted By: Harold Posted On: Dec 12, 2008 Views: 1211 | New PALM, Bah Humbug I've waited and waited for PALM to become creative and innovative... but the wait is over. I'm crossing over to the BlackBerry Storm. |
| Posted By: Chaz Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1579 | Requirements for Nova Nova is supposed to be linux based and address the lack of a rich mobile browsing experience according to what we heard back in May. That's a good thing IMO because the browser and a larger screen are what's missing from today's Treo phones. The Treo does everything else I need--runs applications and the organizer stuff. So if the new stuff includes a good browser, I'll be happy, and I'll be buying. What else is missing? |
| Posted By: JB Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1384 | PALM 2.0 UNVEILING AT CES Palm could introduce something new and make people say WOW but they won't. They have gotten in bed with Microsoft and are just coasting now. Palm means PALM not windows mobile. That is where they started the downward slide and won't recover unless they put the effort back into the PALM OS. By not saying anything about the new products is shooting themselves in the head because people buy for Christmas. I am in the market now for a new phone and will leave PALM for the Google phone if palm doesn't announce something to keep me as a customer by the end of the year. It's sad that I supported them since the Palm Pilot Pro ans every product since. At least the Google phone is open source and has already had updates and patches. Windows Mobile won't react fast enough in the likely event of a the need for a patch or update so there is no reason to stick with the company PALM. It's very sad they have had a pitcher of kool-aid because I am not in the minority here. People will leave and use products that are new and stable. Google hit it on the head with Android, keeping it open source, it's the next best thing to a PALM OS phone. |
| Posted By: theoinpa Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1387 | I think they can do it we often forget that althought we say they flopped with the folio, net books soon came after, and the firefly, has been gaining ground. I think the sad part is palm has spent a long time just selling phones, and not trying to create innovative products. to me this is the first real attempt to do something "palmlike" since the folio, and honestly if the folio was 200.00 cheaper it would have been a hit. |
| Posted By: David J. Ferrell Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1024 | HOPEFUL Change I have been using PALM OS products since 1996. I currently have a Treo 700P. I will be changing to another system unless PALM does something worthwhile in January 2009. |
| Posted By: brokepalmshareholder Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1140 | PALM 2.0 UNVEILING AT CES I have been a palm user since 2000 and am a very disappointed palm shareholder. How disappointed? Last week I went to the store to pick up a Centro for my wife for Christmas and I walked out with an iphone. I (and my employees) will be upgrading from our Palm Treo 680s soon, and I'm willing to wait for january's announcement. But . . . |
| Posted By: DVinal Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1053 | New Palm change up due in Jan It would be a pleasant surprise to see a new palm featuring a linux OS that supports real multitasking, robust file system (including reading the SDHD format no matter how large) and support all of the hardware features of the phone. It would also be expected to support legacy palm OS software as well. If Palm can deliver all of that, then it will be a hay day for Palm users. Short of that Apple will win more Palm customers. |
| Posted By: Gayle Rogers Posted On: Dec 11, 2008 Views: 1049 | Supra E Key I am a realtor and we don't have many choices in phones that are compatible with our lockbox program. I have had 3 different Treo phone models but still wish I had something more like the Iphone or Blackberry. Larger screens are very important (not like the Centro) don't like the phone. I now have a 755p. |
