I think the actress is doing a great job and definitely adds something to this storyline. Do I care about investing in her as a character longterm? No, not really. She is ambitious and conniving. We have that already on the canvas in the character of Tracy, who I would much rather see back to her old ways rather than kissing Luke's behind.

In short, GH casting does a good job with bringing in villains. Where they screw up imo is immediately deciding to make them longterm and then trying to make the character sympathetic and keep them frontburner(see Mr. Craig/Jerry and Claudia)...oh, and rewrite everything to make them fit in (while putting other stories on hold). GH never learns from their mistakes.

I'm liking her...

she's the first newbie that I'm actually invested in. GH does need to stop bringing new characters on the canvas though. I feel like my television screen has been overtaken by total strangers. The worst of the bunch is definitely Rebecca. Sorry GH, you killed off Emily which was a big mistake. I didn't even like Emily but even I wouldn't kill her off...send her away for a while maybe, kill her? No. Anyway, trying to fix that mistake by bringing back a clearly not that talented actress (she's really struggling to play a new character) and come up with this fabricated con is a joke! Then to steal from Nem with these ballroom dancing scenes and talk of fairytales and Nik being a prince, is just...UGH! It was nauseating enough the first time around, not it's just vomit-inducing.

Phew, sorry for the rant. Yea, back to Andrea. I like her...makes me wish the mayor's wife was a part of the picture all along.

The last thing GH needs is another newbie. What they do need are new writers. I can't believe that Luke had a son while married to Laura. The best daytime lovestory ever written and these idiot writers ruin the whole lovestory with Ethan being Luke's son. By making Ethan Luke's son, they also destoyed a lovestory between Lulu and Ethan. The only actor she seems to have chemistry with. Finally, boring Rick is leaving. I wish he would take (goth girl) Claudia with him !!!The only thing that the writers have gotten right lately is the steaming romance bewteen Olivia and Johnny !!!

I'm with you

long time viewer. I hate to see other descent characters put on the back burner for all the newbies. I for one would like to see GH wrap up some of the other on going s/l's before starting new ones. Right now there are way to many s/l's going on at this point. The whole Mikey shooting, Carly/Jax and their baby and Kate being blackmailed. I'm sure I forgot something, but the point is just end the old s/l's before starting new ones. GH also has a nasty habit of just dropping s/l's. Why get invested in a s/l if it's only going to be dropped?

I realize Martha came from another soap & is a long time soap vet, but no matter who is playing it, the character is still a newbie. I get frustrated that the TIIC waste the talented actors they already have on the show by rarely showing them, but then they turn around & start these new stories with new characters while powerhouse families, like the Quartermaines are left to languish. It's terrible. Time will tell if this mayor & his dead mistress story-line is worth the time, but I will keep watching no matter what, as now GH has become a habit for me.

Martha Byrne

Martha Byrne is no "newbie." she is a seasoned vet, snagged from another (floundering) soap.

Give her a chance: the woman is a power house actress when given the right material.

I would love to see her paired with Mac.

Even though she's only been on once so far, I really do not care for the character; she does come across as cold & mechanical. Plus, the mayor was always a very annoying character, so any story that gives him more airtime will just grate on the nerves. The show needs to give story-lines to their seasoned vets, not bring in more useless newbies that most people can't stand. If this keeps up, it's going to be a dull summer in PC.
