| Posted By: Trying to Understand Posted On: Jul 3, 2009 Views: 188 | Brahm's A friend told me yesterday he definitely favors the enlargement of Brahm's store to include the produce, etc. But only if they run a cleaner operation. Now I see a comment here by "Come On!!" that says it's dirty and needs to be cleaned up. It would seem to me that a dirty store is a management problem that has nothing to do with the location or the building. It's a food service business. If it isn't clean, the health department needs to get involved. Building a new building won't solve the problem. |
| Posted By: Rex Deal Posted On: Jul 3, 2009 Views: 188 | Braums I live in a town that has 2 Braums. They sell ice cream produce and even good quality meats. I am talking steaks not just ground beef. I was a resident of Ark City for 30 years and you will love your new Braums. |
| Posted By: sad Posted On: Jul 2, 2009 Views: 188 | Braums reaction Well said "Come On" I think this should be the new moto for AC: "I have never seen so many people complain about change." I think that on a daily basis. That's all people do around here. |
| Posted By: iluvmyfamily Posted On: Jul 1, 2009 Views: 200 | Re: Me's Comment Sonic Moved and built a new facitlity, Is the old building an eye sore? No...They tore it down! I say If Braums wants to build Ark City A new, Nicer place...Let em! The old building will be torn down or "recycled"/renovated and turned into another business of some type I am sure! Maybe well get lucky & get a Churches Chicken, Pizza Inn OR Golden Coral.. move into the old building (Ha!~YUM~ I WISH!) =) |
| Posted By: Come On!! Posted On: Jul 1, 2009 Views: 200 | Braum's I have never seen so many people complain about change. Go around to all the area Braums, and see it for yourself. The Braums in Ark City is dirty and needs updating. Whats wrong with a little improvement on Summit street. Or do all you complainers just want a street lined with dirty old buildings, that are eye soars. |
| Posted By: Grandpa Posted On: Jun 29, 2009 Views: 449 | Brahm's My first reaction is NO! In fact, what's the point? In more recent years my mother lived a block from Brahm's and loved to go there for a fast food meal or her favorite ice cream. Why move it at all? Then I had second thoughts after reading Me's comment about another eyesore. Doe's me remember when Brahm's was Peter Pan and in a slightly different location. That too was a nice building. My wife worked there for awhile. That building was vacated and the current store was built. The old Peter Pan is no longer there. It never became an eyesore. Then I remember 60 years ago when I was a child and the Vega Gold Dairy was across from Wilson Park on the south. We went there often to buy icecream or malts or even ice to make our own icecream. At a recent family funeral, a much younger generation of siblings and cousins were remembering that same Vega Gold and similar trips taken there 45 years ago by the uncle who died. My own children remember similar trips to that same Vega Gold 35 years ago and express sadness that we aren't able to take our grandchildren to Vega Gold when we visit Wilson Park. Even though we are now able to take them to Brahm's in a less convenient location. And of course Tastee Freeze and all the old familiar places of that type on South Summit and on Madison Avenue and even Dairy Queen and Wayne's Carryout and Leon's, all of these are gone now. So I say. . . Power to them. Even if the hospital is going to be moved, let Brahm's build and even nicer facility, including the produce market many of the Brahm's stores have, and ice vending for picnickers, and locate it across the street north of Wilson Park. And never change Wilson Park from the way it's been all these years, with the rotunda, and public restrooms and tennis courts and playground equipment and picnic tables and park benches and city band concerts and the train (because my children will want to take my grandchildren to the "train" park when they come to Ark City to visit.) I don't always agree with change being the key word to progress. In fact sometimes I think change destroys things that help make Ark City progressive. But moving Brahm's across from the park is a good idea. |
