Buy a normal DVD player

You are better off getting an upscaling dvd player for like 30 bucks, plus the decent ones have a usb port to plug a hard drive in and play downloaded movies.

Bluray is the next laser disc. It's only REAL feature is to lock you out of copying the disc. That it beat HD-DVD means nothing.

If you insist on getting another Blu-ray player get a ps3. Same price with triple the functionality.
