Best Penance

I never go a chance to watch Dr. Zhivago, but my dad claimed it was the best film he remembered.

If it's penance...

...shouldn't the only choice be Beaches? (Or does that qualify as torture more than penance?)

Great Escape

My obvious choice is The Great Escape, but Lawrence of Arabia is a real must see...

The Great Escape

It's sick that The Great Escape is not the clear winner. SICK.

Lawrence of Arabia

It actually feels good that Adam hasn't seen a film that I've seen.

Adam needs to see The Great Escape NOW

I was shocked to learn that Adam has not seen The Great Escape. It may be long, but it so much fun and such a gripping enthralling story AND if that's not enough, there's James Garner, Charles Bronson (Danny, the Tunnel King!), Richard Attenborough (Big X!), Donald Pleasence, James Coburn, David McCallum, and the awesomeness that is Steve McQueen. Adam, you should be impatient to see this film!

Forget the Poll, Just . . .

. . . get immediately to the largest available screen and watch Lawrence of Arabia. Adam, you watch Merchant/Ivory but not David Lean? Madness . . .

A Long film for Adam

I'm surprised this was not in the poll, given Adam has mentioned it before as a long movie he will never watch and it would be my first vote.

Gone With The Wind

Beaces

What a wonderful idea! I vote for "Beaches" (http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Beaches&x=12&y=7). While I'm eagely looking forward to the discussion of "Throne of Blood" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050613/), I can't wait to hear about Adam's experience of watching "Beaches" with Sara.

Note to Adam, crying in front of your wife is not showing weakness, it is showing a side of your humanity. She won't love you less, she will love you more.

Cheers, JL

Since Gone With The Wind is not an option,

I say Beaches, and since Matty is predicting it is going to get dusty for Adam, I think it is perfect!
