Ban on Motor-Bikes in Edo State

Hello Readers:

This decision affects all of us at home and abroad. Considering how many lives have been lost and maimed, we should consider the lives the Governor is trying to save. It is true that this decision will affect the owners, commuters, mechanics, and parts stores. Even Rural riders who depend on Motor-Bikes as a means of transportation to and from their farms and markets will be deeply affected also. This will be tough but lives will be saved.

Ban On Motorcycles

It will make sense to phase this out gradually by starting from some major roads and working inland. I am wondering how people will get home from work or from point A to point B when their streets are not motorable. I have never ridden one, but I know motorbikes are useful to people inland due to the conditions of our roads.

A ban like this also needs some transition period for people to adjust and plan alternate means of transport. I support the ban and think it is long overdue, but I think making it too sudden is not okay. This will have some economic impact on the state, and place heavy financial burden on many citizens depending on this mode of transportation.

Bann of Okada in Edo state

I love it,it has long been expected to be brought into action by our comrade Gorvernor Adam, Oshomhole. Most of this Okada rider are impatient and move without caution, My cousine is still in the Hospital due to injury she sustaine in Using Okada and the bone in her leg got broken and she is still in the hospital for more than 10 months now due to the careless Okada rider that she even paid to drop her.
Apart from the accident risk that involve, they use it for robbery and are not easily traced due to that fact that they can pass any tiny road than cars.
This move by Gorvernor Oshomhole to Bann Okada in Edo state to me is a welcome one. Long live Edo state , Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria, Long live Oshomhole.

Banned On Motorbike in Some Area in Edo State Capi

I will like to ask first, since yesterday 17th. June, 2013. How is the situation in Benin City Metropolis? I guess the envirolment is calm and noiseless. I hailed the ban and wish to Government to do more interms of Roads renovations in the state and particular the lanes in the capital Cities in Edo state. This will help alot to allow free flow or movement of road users and discongest most traffic hold-up in the state.
The should please keep to your promise by providing alternative way for the Bike riders to secure means of living, thus, that they should not come up to blame the banned of motorcycle that course them to be jobless. Thanks to the Govt. for it initiative and blessing to my state.

bike ban in Edo State

The governor's decision to ban okada is a bold and decisive move to secure the image of Edo and to curb crimes committed by or through the Okada riders.

What is appalling however, is the decision to ban PRIVATE use by private citizens whose means of transportation is by their private motorcycle!. In my opinion, It is an over reach of government power to decide for a man what mode of transport he should invest his resource on, or what to ride for him and his family. what about the ardent mike lovers?
Is the Edo government going to compensate these private bike owners who have been deprived of their bike? There is a thin line between eroding peoples' right and government policies.

The ban on private ownership should be revised.

Is the Edo government replacing a viable means of carriage for the hundreds of citizens who may suffer because of this action; after all, it is also the government responsibility to provide adequate and safe transport for its people.

My Concern

I hope the Government of Edo State has taken in cognizance the resultant effect and the negative impact it will degenerate to, when there is no alternative measure to rehabilitate the Okada riders in the State.
