You belong to your tribe

I think every one belong to his tribe irrespective of where you were born. In the 1950/60s Ibo used to troop home when there is census, because that was the basis of allocation. What I am saying is , while they make living from other trbal land they still go home to give advantage to their home land. In the Bible it was recorded that Joseph and Mary went back to their ancestral home to get registered during census. No matter what the world is trying to achieve we all belong to one tribe or the other, that is what it is. You can speak ten languages you are only just coomunicating with more people without problem nothing more, it does not make you member of that tribe

You chose a good topic to discuss, but you should really proofread before you publish it on the internet.

Editorial Quality

I strongly appeal to our Nigerian newspapers to be careful to dot all 'i's and cross all 't's before publishing. I am sure the statement 'fearful eye still sees' couldn't have been made by the fearless and courageous Rev. Obadan that I know. I am very sure he quoted the popular proverb 'the tearfull eye still sees' which means 'who dey cry still dey see' - Rev Obadan and Chief Oyegun certainly rule the roost in our society, and they acted wisely; such heavy weights should not allow any form of sworn allegiance to a party sear their conscience, especially when such party is precipice bound! Others should allow their reasoning a free sway.

trafficking

Trafficking is a shameful global phenomenon, it saden my heart when i hear cases of little girls like chinyere. I have read alot of articles and journals on child trafficking nigeria, every one keeps talking about the process, rate and cause, no one seem to talk about rehabilitating the victims. if chinyere had not died and her parents had come to take her away from mr emeka, they probably would have sent her to another persons house hoping she will be more comfortable in the new place meanwhile there are soo many NGOs on trafficking in nigeria but i guess they are all lip service. i think its right time to start talking about finding solutions on rehabilitating this victims rather than keep talking about the problem.

Oshiomhole is now Adolor in Esanland ! ! !

What a turn of event, but I would like to know '' who fix this trip '' to Benin City I hope there will still be harmony amongst traditional rulers in Esanland after last two weeks endorsement of their 'son'. I believe its becoming clear that if Oshiomhole dont win in Esan land, they should better forget any commissionership post from the area or piercing the groung for a bucket of water. Why this delay in support for Oshiomhole, afterall he is Esan's inlaw

Institutional Development

I Hail from Delta and live in Lagos. I am of the opinion that His Excellency Dr. Oduagan should look inwards and know that he has opportunity to write his name in golld in the history of Delta state by making sure that their is equal development in all local government areas of the state in terms of infrastructure [good roads, drinkable water, mini power stations, scholarship to university level for qualify students, computer centres in all LGA,a games villege in LGA, and good water transport system, agriculture/food centre and any other good plans that he has for the people].

If he does not fix things now who will, although God may send someone else. If Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo did not help the yorubos with free education, they will never have been in the forefront of education/politics/economics in Nigeria, I think he should visit the issue of all the state ministers/commissioners/GDS that place personal interest over people/state matters.

I believe His excellency should set up a think-tank team to help him and let them focus more on the future so that Deltans do not become slaves to foreigners like the case of Jos and other parts of the north.

Festus Peter-Aseni
Lagos.

Obadan

Good that Rev Obadan has seen the light. I was however too late after the failed ADB water project when he was Deputy gov and in-charge of water Board and after watching the 'private commercialization' of Edo state by the House of Igbinedion

Political Decampees

As our brother Prince Edun Akenzua once said in an interview that politicians are all the same, that is why they find it easy to fit in into any of the parties they chose to decamp to That is very true for Nigeria politicians, but those who have been following other countries political process decamping is so rare or probably non existence. This incidence is fanned dudiously because there is no real ''opposition parties '' in Nigeria but people who contested in this other parties because it was easier to win in that party in political ecosystem, I think INEC should be allowed to place embargo on the number of times a politician be allowed to decamp of not more than once. If a Nigerian adult is regitered in a political party once he should have only one chance to decamp in his life time. An adult should be mature enough to have a political principle. Politicians should learn from football fans who say proudly...Arsenal or Man U FOR LIFE
