| Posted By: Pat Posted On: Oct 29, 2009 Views: 756 | Accidental marriage : Dorian and David The last thing that OLTL needed was another "newbie". Hopefully, she along with Dorian's fiance', Kyle's fiance, and the forever lingering Todd, Tea, Blair garbage will end soon.Todd and Tea belong together. Blair only wants him when someone else does. Blair and Russ should go back to Tahiti. I can't believe that we are going to be bored with another Jessica storyline. Poor Natalie never even got a real wedding. I love John and Gigi in the same room. They really have chemistry. I am sick of whiny Rex and what's her name (dumb and dumber). Love the Kyle and Fish lovestory developing. Wish David and Dorian would "accidently" marry. That would be great !!! |
| Posted By: Bella Posted On: Oct 27, 2009 Views: 857 | OLTL This show sucks so bad right now. I am so tired of Stacy and Kim, Rex and Gigi and Tea/Todd/Blair. OLTL has gone to hell in a handbasket. The gay s/l makes me sick. The s/l started out wrong and it's only gotten worse. If the soaps are going to do a gay s/l then they should do it right. Not have character's meet off screen. Have them meet and fall in love on the show. We as fans can't get invested in a couple that we didn't get to see fall in love. I liked that AMC did Binks and Reese wedding on the show. It was a nice touch. But they too met off screen and then they had Reese have a thing for Zach. That's another pet peeve of mine when it comes to gay s/l's on the soaps. It's time for them to do a gay s/l where the gay characters are comfortable in their own skin. Where they aren't afraid to be themselves. Oliver slept with Stacy and Layla. Why? So he can hide who he truly is? Please. The same thing was done over on Y&R with Phillip. The excuse was lame there and it's lame here. Writer's get it together already. |
| Posted By: Toasted Posted On: Oct 27, 2009 Views: 965 | farce of a show Mark, I am not gay, and even I find Dorian's gay marriage charade highly offensive. Why would anyone think this is a subject to be approached like it is slap stick? These people need some serious counseling in sensitivity, or rather, some sense. Either take the issue seriously and do it justice, or don't go there. Even though AMC took the ceremony between Binks and Reese a lot more seriously, they had to ruin by annulling the marriage 12 hours later, so what was the point? I think all soaps just want to give lip service to supporting gay rights, when in reality, those in charge don't care, and are highly irresponsible in the way they bring it to the screen. On to the question in the poll, Rex, Stacy and Kim need to move to Planet Ork and never come back. |
| Posted By: Mark Posted On: Oct 26, 2009 Views: 649 | GH I love your column about OLTL. I hate to admit it, but you are absolutely spot on with your honest, yet hard critique of my favorite show. I've watched OLTL for 35 years and am honestly on the verge of dropping it. But I hang on, loyal friend I am, hoping and praying for a strong turn around. Agnes Nixon's philosophy has always been, "make 'em wait as long as you can. Make 'em laugh, make 'em cry". Ron et al are taking the "make 'em wait" philosophy a little too at heart. They drag storylines out just a bit longer than necessary. I agree Blair, Todd and Tea have been rehashed, run through the mill too many times. IT'S OVER! I liked to see Blair in the middle between brothers Ross and Elijah! I like to see Todd and Tea happy for a spell and reunite with their daughter Daniella. On a side note, if I remain watching I'm looking forward to the love story between Matthew and Daniella. Poor Destiny. Maybe she'll go psycho, kill her brothers and then commit suicide. Oooo what fun that would be! When Kim and Stacy are on I turn the channel. Oftentimes I find something more interesting and skip OLTL for that day. I am gay and I find the Gay Marriage fiasco offensive and downright stupid! If we lose the Prop 8 fight in California again, I'm going to blame OLTL. Thanks Jeremy for your recommendation to watch GH again. I want and need a strong story and out-of-the-ballpark acting. I stopped watching GH after 35 years for several reasons. They killed off Logan Hayes because I really wanted Scott Baldwin's spawn to be paired up with Lulu! It would have brought history together. Secondly, GH's tendency to drop storylines without following through to the end. The Sam storyline with her producer Amelia. Amelia believed Sam killed her father and was out for revenge. That actress leaves for "24" and we're left with loose ends. Lastly the rewrite of history that is basically a slap-in-the-face for many longtime devoted fans. Most recently Luke having a son with Holly. What? The most egregious offense was Laura supposedly killing a character, Theresa Carter, who never existed! Let's not forget the demise of the Quartermaine's. But, despite all that on your recommendation I will give GH another try. |
| Posted By: Cassie Posted On: Oct 26, 2009 Views: 563 | OLTL Jeremy, there are currently 16 episodes of OLTL sitting on my DVR begging to be watched or deleted. But I can't bring myself to watch them, and reading your columns recently, I'm clearly not missing much. It's like TPTB don't even want us to care about the show just so they can cancel it next year. That's a damn shame. |
| Posted By: Lila Posted On: Oct 26, 2009 Views: 476 | The Four Musketeers Let Vicki adopt Shane. Then Gigi, Kim, Stacy and Rex can all move in together somewhere far, far away!! I can't stand any of them any more. I'm lucky if I watch once a week. |
