Paper "thickness"

Although grams per square meter (gsm, g/m^2) is a unit of paper *density* rather than a unit of paper *thickness*, it is used for practical reasons by papercrafters to talk about paper "thickness".

There are many problems to convert the metric gsm values to the Unites States lbs system because there are so many variables involved, so the lbs values mentioned in the poll are no more than simple indications for commonly used paper types.

Simple put: the higher the gsm/lbs value on the package, the thicker the paper.

I always use 200 gsm paper myself, which is about 2.5 times as thick as regular printer paper. The reason is simple: I like working with it! ;o) And it also makes the final paper model nice and sturdy of course.

Lots of people simply use regular printer paper, though, or something in between, and some people even use different paperweights for different parts on the same model!

So tell us: what do *you* use? ;o)
