Boko Haram kills new spokesman •Accuses him of planning to denounce sect From IKENNA EMEWU, Abuja Sunday, April 15, 2012 • • Photo: The Sun Publishing More Stories on This Section There is likelihood that the Boko Haram sect might have killed its present spokesman, Abu Qaqa II, last week. The new spokesman, who took over from Abu Qaqa I, who is now with the State Security Services (SSS) on detention after his arrest in January, was accused of planning to defect sometime last week. The killing, according to reliable security sources, was at the behest of the group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau. Earlier in the year, shortly after his arrest, Abu Qaqa I had revealed that death for a member suspected of defection plan or disloyalty is always the only option. He had said that such applies especially to members who are non-Kanuri like the sect leader, Shekau. Qaqa noted that even the members sent on suicide missions by compulsion must never be Kanuri, which is how the leader safeguards his tribesmen from death, while exposing others to bombing that consumes their lives. Since Abu Qaqa II was accused of trying to denounce the sect after intensive trailing by the security agency that saw him changing locations severally, his group felt the best for him was death. Abu Qaqa II whose real name is Mohammed Anwal Kontagora was from Kontagora in Niger State. He took the name Abu Qaqa in February this year after the original Abu Qaqa, 42, also known as Abu Dardaa, Mohammed Shuaibu, Mohammed Bello, Abu Tiamiya and Abdulrahman Abdullahi, was arrested. Kontagora, like his predecessor, was non-Kanuri, so his case as applicable to every non-Kanuri was said to have been decided summarily by the sect leader. After elimination of the spokesman, the source revealed that Boko Haram is shopping for a new spokesperson that would be dubbed Abu Qaqa III. The vacuum created by Abu Qaqa II’s assassination was said to have been responsible for the silence of Boko Haram over the Easter Sunday killing in Kaduna by the group. The sect never owned up or disassociated itself from the Easter Sunday bomb blast that killed so many commercial motorcyclists and tea vendors. |

The Church building at the President’s country home no doubt has made scholars of Letters to critically x-ray the term “Corporate Social Responsibility”. Many critics especially from politically estranged groups and some Islamic proponents of “Islamanization” of Northern Nigeria (and Nigeria as whole) were of the view that episode was an act of bribery; some went as far as calling on the President to resign. Well in any democratic arrangement it is an agreeable fact that freedom of speech is guaranteed, however it is also obvious that the most noise emanates from the camps of wet blankets. For the records the establishment of the Alamajiri education scheme by the Federal government is constitutionally wrong because it bothers on Education based on religion. The creation or establishment of Religious schools is the Exclusive of the State/ Local governments and not the Federal government, that is why both the Federal and State governments are returning Christian Mission schools back to it owners , if not why not the creation of Christian Mission Schools for Christians by the same Federal government? In Nigeria, the Nomadic education program established years ago is saddled with the responsibility of taking care of children (adults inclusive) who wonder from place to place in search for food and water for themselves and their animals alike; one of the typical characteristics of the Alamajiri, therefore the Alamjiri school program in which the Federal government has taken up is purely in contravention of certain Acts of the Law. To state the obvious, one wonders why these advocates of righteousness were silent on the establishment and inclusion of the Alamajiri Education scheme into the mainstream of the Universal Basic Education by the same Mr. President whom they accused of bribery ? . However, the intention of the President in this regard is to give children, most of whom do not know who their parents are the opportunity to appreciate life through education and the option of embracing a meaningful future whenever they are confronted by the agents of doom to recruit them into the battalion of religious extremism and radicalism. The mixture of Western education and Islamic education may be catastrophic if not adequately monitored to checkmate the activities well known Northern politicians who are bent in creating havoc in Nigeria; the case of Osama Bin Laden and Abdullmutallab etc are just few instance that grips one’s mind with doubts and fear. In Islamic context, the Alamajiris’ are known, however what is now common is that most of these children are products of unwanted pregnancy and especially out of wed luck, will this schools now be leverage for the indulgence in sexual promiscuity? By implication any child born out of adultery or out of the doctrines of Islam is a liability of the Federal government through the Alamajiri school program. Available statistics has it that an estimated 30 million Nigerian children are in need of education and according to a documentary on Education in Northern Nigeria on NTA’s network news Weekend File reports few months ago , the highest percentage of this figure is residual in the core Northern part of the country . One wonders what has being the role of religious leaders and politician in these areas towards preaching against sexual promiscuity, an avenue of population explosion and a national burden than the inflammatory statements of making Nigeria ungovernable, especially after losing elections. (Food for thought) Every Nigerian child deserves the best education, we have the resources and we have come a long way as a nation, but if not properly checked the intention of Mr. President could be sabotaged, how ? These Alamajiri schools could turn out to be a breeding ground for extremism and radicalism which are the bed-rock of terrorism for terrorist then question will arise; Alamajiri goes to school; a curse or a blessing? Goodluck Jonathan, put this in your head, that no matter how many pots of red oil you used to cook a dish for a dog, it will never change the color of its excreta not to be black. You have succeeded in building another breeding heaven and den for the terrorists. Your government never cared to know the roots of these Alamajiris, their country of origin, families and parents who ignored these children, you only because of power jumped into building a meeting and breeding heaven for them. In a broader translation, it is called the power of invention. I’ll rather die while improvising under my human accessible knowledge by asking questions to see how things I was told works than believing in obnoxious chroniclers whose interests was to use religion and confine the least intelligent ones in a dungeon of eternal damnation. Spiritual incapacitation becomes active in those who nurse the idea of Satan been responsible for all their misfortunes. This is why you see people shouting devil as if Satan is truly responsible for their self inflicted problems. If heaven cannot defeat the Satan, who is an ordinary mortal to achieve that fit on earth.
