He further dealt with the intellectuals who sold their birth rights to work for him.He hated intellectuals to the high heavens and decided to fool them around by hiring and firing them at will to satisfy his hatred for them.University dons were running after him and bowing for him to be appointed into government for persona l gains.Those that were bold to call him to order he dealt with seriously. Ever since them Nigeria have found no peace as everything is now done on the basis of religion,politics,ethnicity. Also corruption,looting of public treasury became a thing of pride as when he was stepping aside he looted the foreign reserve and even Abdulsalami who took over after the death of Abacha also looted the the foreign reserve before handing over to Obasanjo. The present call by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala that money should be saved in a sovereign National Fund for future use is being resisted by state Governors due to the fact that any president can come from nowhere tomorrow and misappropriate the funds and refuse to account for it with impunity. As for the governors of states many of them are a disgrace.Many of them are drug addicts and cannot reason straight to pilot their states.Many of them have never in their lives had a balance of a million Naira in their account and were sponsored by a god father to rig elections.How can a man who has never successfully managed a private business or a public enterprise manage a state allocated billions of Naira?He will surely go crazy and spend recklessly. |
