Can you now see that our major problem is not North, East, South-south and West? The biggest problem is our "individual selfishness". It means that if Nigeria must break up at all it should do so into about 250 countries according to the exact number of tribes and dialects spoken, no matter how small. Therefore, any arrangee divisions or alliances other than this will not work in Africa whether between Igbos and Semi-Igbos, North and core North, South-south and core south-south, West and Lagos, East and Eastern minorities, it would just be effort in futility. That is not to say I'm in support of break-up of Nigeria but if it's going to happen it must not be in groups or any cosmetic alliances to avoid these type of misunderstandings and frictions which to me, could be worst than when in Nigeria. Even Amadi's Rivers state must be sub-divided into Kalabari Kingdom, Ikwerre Kingdom, Ogoni Kingdom, Ijaw Kingdom, etc, to exist as independent country each. Otherwise, peace or justice would still elude them. I could imagine the genesis of our problems in Africa in such popular saying as, "charity begins at home". Nobody is ever willing to give up opportunity in favour of any other people outside his tribe no matter how ancestrally related they might be. It is always my people first, or my people forever. |
