I am only responding to the unity what Ohanaeze guys have been suggesting. Thats why am saying all these things about strategy which I buy into looking at the big picture. It is no skin off my nose if you people reject unity. What is for sure is that your Biafra can not live in isolation. No way. At some point, you have to dialogue or seek cooperation with your neighbours. Thats when you will see how shortsighted your stand is for now. Amadi, I dont think I accept your position. In these days of high technology in warfare, threat can come from any where. Not neccessarily from those you share border with. In anycase Igbos will still be part of Republic of Rivers. Since Obigbo, Egbema etc are Igbos. So what if Igbos decide to infiltrate from Obigbo or Egbema. What are you going to do? What if Republic of Rivers constitute a threat to Biafra through some Egbema and Oguta people who claim not to be Igbos Thats why my stand remains that whether Biafra or no Biafra, Rivers Republic or no Rivers Republic, Niger Delta or No Niger Delta, there has to be dialogue at some point among the people of the old East. You guys can rubbish my opinion if you like but any sensible person will understand what am saying. |

My guy, you must be a good political analyst or strategist before breaking the jinx in Nigeria political highway. You are educated though. But, made in Nigeria politics you do not have the knowledge at present. You need more education on history to equate and defend your perceived republic from contradictory utterances. It has no issue with Biafra or Niger Delta. We prefer staying in a fiscal nigerian federation to Biafra where Igbos will dominate or in Niger Delta republic where Ijaws will dominate. And in this new political structure, military threat against Republic of Rivers state is more likely to come from Biafra and Niger delta than from the north. The north cannot attack us without a base from our neighbors since we don't have direct link with the north.The emerging southern nations like Biafra, Republic of Rivers state , Niger delta(Whatever), etc. can form a mutual union for co-existence and against outside oppressors or invaders. |

Let us consider a situation where Nigeria split into four countries namely; Biafra, Arewa, Oduduwa and Niger Delta or Republic of Rivers. What if the Arewa form alliance with Oduduwa to exploit the oil fields of Niger Delta. What if they say to Arewa, or Arewa say to them please let us possess the oil fields of the Niger Delta for our mutual benefit. This type of thing although is not likely is a possibility if we continue to go by the quarelling and the disunity in the old East. Even in the Niger Delta, what make you think that the Urhobo tribe or Itshekiri or Bini tribe cannot grant military base to the North or Oduduwa or Biafra to attack Republic of Rivers state. Is Niger Delta made up of one people? Is republic of Rivers state made up of one people? Obigbo people which you say is boundary, are they not Igbo people? My point is that the wahala will never end once it starts. The best thing is to for the old East to unite or to reach mutual agreement. I am certain that the oil wealth will cause serious trouble if Nigeria continues to go on like this |

Second, with the possible emergence of several nations, it is unlikely that the north will be militarily and economically strong enough to invade and oppress others. Remember, the north did not fight the civil war alone. It was a combined force of north, southwest and western world. The recent episode of Jonathan capturing power as a result of southern solidarity against northern solidarity portrays the fact that the north will be in all spheres handicapped if none of the regions from the south is in support of the north. If there will be any invader on the Republic of Rivers state after seperation , it will be the people of Niger Delta and Biafra.Remember the Igbos are claiming that Ikwerre is Igbo and that they have their properties or whatever in Port Harcourt. The north will surely need a base from the south before it can invade Republic of Rivers state. If the Niger deltans and Biafrans did not give them such a base it will be very difficult. And as earlier mentioned, there will be no basis for that since there is no direct link between the two. |
