Structure and triathlons

Being a fan of triathlons and the work that The Belize National Triathlon Assn has been doing, I totally agree with Giovanni Alamilla. They could have found somewhere else to erect the sculpture. As a matter of fact, wouldn't it have been appropriate for them to put up something that supports what the Triathlon Assn has been doing out there for all those years? Even if it weren't to put up something useful like PROPER STEPS or a RAMP so that the water is easier accessed by the people who do enjoy the water outside of the triathlon events? They could have put up a sculpture that indicates the appreciation for the City Council's well deserved new found love for athleticism in the average population. AND NOT IN THE WAY OF OUR EVENT.

30th Anniversary Sculpture

This is tasteless and very tacky. Belizeans can be a lot more creative. Please do not add insult to injury and allow this individual to tarnish the already tarnished image of our country further by promoting this antiquated Roman Numeral sculpture.I say scap this perverse insignia of Thirty Years of Belizean Independence.

xxx

1.) don't like the xxx for 30 can they be more creative. it have double mean even though it means 30.
2.) would prefer it to enhance the view of the city perhaps put it where the city needs it. Don't block the sea it far beautiful than the sculpture.
3.) or be more creative perhaps make it more fun. Why not involve the city residents to decide what they would like to have. Make it a competition at all levels, primary, high school, university and professional. Be inclusive and you could have avoided all this mess.

thank you

Belize City Council, XXX

'm writing on behalf of The Belize National Triathlon Association.

I received an email from a concerned fan of triathlon last night. She stated=
that I should looking into some type of construction that is currently happ=
ening at the Sand Lighters Promenade. When I read the news online today, to m=
y surprise I read that the City Council was building an X in the same spot t=
hat our association has been placing our ramp for our swimmers for the past 8=
years. I understand that we have no rights to that spot but, everyone in Be=
lize knows that the triathlon association uses that area for our races. Inst=
ead of building something that would negatively affect our races, they could=
have easily built something that could have assisted us. The City Council h=
as over half a mile of sea wall from the beginning of the Sand Lighters Prom=
enade to the end of Marine Parade by Saint Catherine's Academy. Why did they=
have to choose the exact spot that would interface with our race?

Some people might ague that we should just move to another spot. If it was t=
hat easy for us then we wouldn't have a problem. If we were to move to anoth=
er area then we would have to rent more barriers that we use to help protect=
our athletes coming out of the water. We would also have to move the other i=
nfrastructure that we already have I place.

I am currently in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico attending the Congress of The Pan A=
merican Triathlon Confederation. I'm here trying to secure more training cou=
rses and funding for Belize and back home things are happening that will neg=
atively affect triathlon.

Monuments set up at Focal Points in the City

Although I am not living in Belize at present I am abreast of the activities that is occuring everyday. I must say that Belize was never like this before our children killing each other and nothing is being done about it. On the issue of these monuments that are being built I sincerely believe that the citizen should have been consulted before and their endorsement given before such monuments should have been built. Are we now being lead to be ruled under a Democratic Scolisist standard. I believe that this Government had had a more sincere means of seeking solutions for oue Country.

Monuments

Why do we like anything that is Ugly? Crooked (Flagpole at courthouse) Foreign (Tikal Copy cat Monument) and as always not artist concepts presented to a generally uninformed public? On a related note, The flagpole tells all our visitors how crooked we really are and now a triple X Monument will tell them how immoral we really are.

Triple X Monument

Our leaders are oblivious to the FACT that they are our employees. The construction of another harebrained monument without consulting with City residents is offensive and a demonstration of the Council's disregard for the will of the people.
The Mayor should be focused on cleaning up Belize City and ridding our City of rodents. She should be fixing more streets. I am certain that while these unnecessary structures are being constructed, there are craters in streets all over Belize City. She is providing another hiding spot for criminals in that area.
I pray for the day we get a responsible leader and not the opportunists who are lining up for the job. I am tired of the foolishness and circus that our Municipal government has been...and please bring us people who can speak ENGLISH!

Nonsense

All of those statues are nonsense they are putting up around the city. They really messed up those two beautiful roundabouts and place cheap and ugly structures. We truly need a more sensible mayor.

triple X

Why not just use the number 30? it would make for less controversy and speculation about the pornographic implication. I guess there would still be a location specific concern given the pathway chosen is also used for other events and could pose as additional launch threat for debris in the event of a hurricane. In the end, its about the message---something that needs to be clearly denoted to ensure no confusion in its implication.

XXX

this is not funny at all. i am tired. tired of all the promotion of sex and sexually connoted messages that is publicly allowed. almost as if marriage is purposely being attacked and this is sad. get that stupid thing off the seawall. go put the number 30 somewhere else.
not even Italians use Roman Numerals anymore. Triple X is exactly that. I bet some Aids and Aids awareness group is funding this one.
Think people. My gosh.
You will all have to answer for your stupid. simple behavior to the Almighty.

Are three X's the best sculpture you could come up with? My 6 yr old could do better than that.

I don't believe anyone thinks of the number 30 when they see XXX, but of a "Hot number"!

xxx

Whilst xxx in roman numeral numbers does mean 30, it is mostly used to signify stuff of pornogaphic nature. Mrs. Mayor please get rid of that. Do you have advisors ? Please consult with other people and stop being naive.
