I know as an Author I have been attacked by a women's church group - anti liquor. The title of my novel "My Bad Tequila" drew some negative attention & the very negative reviews were pretty much all the same and did not even review what really happened in the story; each of them (4) put in their review something that did not even take place so I know that these were false reviews!

I know that bad reviews are a part of writing and can deal with the genuine, honest opinions of the readers, as do most authors. But several authors on Amazon have been the victims of a group who trashes anyone in the top rankings in an effort to bring those numbers down, which in turn helps their "friends" to rise in the rankings. If Amazon cannot put a stop to these planned attacks (obvious when most reviews are 3s to 5s and suddenly there are ten 1s in a row) or personal trashings of the author, then the author should definitely have the option to turn off all reviews (not be able to pick and choose, but turn them all off).

Ideally, reviews are honest yet respectful and constructive without being unprofessional. Reviews are important to an author’s work but sometimes the wrong people, like jealous peers or cyber bullies, can do more damage with untrue remarks or accusations, or even slander. I think there has to be a way to control blatant harmful reviews and even highly exaggerated exaltations on marginal work.
