Bricks vs. GLs

GLs can't just make any physical construct that can just beat anybody. Guys on Hercules' level smashes GL constructs frequently. Doomsday is a brick who can't fly and he was stomping most of the GL Corps.

Guy

I'm a really big Marvel fan (I like dc too but marvel more) so it might come as a surprise but I think guy gardener would win.
he can make physical constructs so in theory he could make a physical construct of someone that could beat Hercules, this is the only reason id think guy would win.
if Hercules by a stroke of luck took it off somehow or it went out of battery, herc would have an advantage but if the rings in the battle herc is screwed
My opinion, if you can tell me how herc could win id love to know, im guessing theres at least a reason hed win

Herc Fan but...

Hercules is one of my favorites so I'm definitely biased but any competent GL should be able to take Herc since he can't fly and is not great in space but if he has Mace... Hercules is not as fast as Doomsday but he's not slow also has thousands of years of fighting experience and has a certain low cunning. I know Guy and Herc would make a great team up comic. But I can't go against my boy so I vote Herc.

Thanks SD

I remember the Lobo fight when Supes was powered up, and I reread DOS not too long ago, but don't remember the comments.

Doomsday did seem very tough...towards the end of DOS Superman even notes when he finally felt like he was starting to hurt him. And I think Lobo was generally portrayed as a peer to Superman, while DD seemed both stronger and more durable IMO.

And it should be noted how DD completely wrecked Guy...Lobo beat him, but DD wrecked him.

All in all, I think Herc wins this, and I don't think Herc wrecks Guy, but I think he's a clear favorite.

For me, DOS Doomsday was clearly more durable...

... than Lobo or Hercules. Doomsday's durability feats in that arc -- in particular, standing up to the combined EP output of Superman, Bloodwynd, Guy, Fire and Booster -- were more impressive than anything we've seen from either one, I think (and certainly more impressive than the level either character is typically depicted at).

Roger Stern also made it pretty clear in ACTION COMICS #684 that Doomsday was stronger than Lobo. Directly quoting Superman thoughts from the second and third page of that issue: "I wish I knew where Doomsday came from... I've never seen anything -- on Earth or off it -- to equal him for sheer brute strength! It was painful to see what he'd done to Guy Gardner. If anything, he's more single-minded than Draaga was... and he seems even more irrational than Lobo, if that's possible. There's a frightening thought. Lobo's given me a hard time more than once... but Lobo's power, his rage, doesn't begin to compare to Doomsday's!"

Plus, you can compare Guy's showing/s against DOS Doomsday to those against Lobo, and while his showings against Lobo weren't that flattering (I recall a draw and a loss, off the top of my head), Lobo didn't steamroller him half as easily as Doomsday did.

Lobo and Herc

I would like to point out that Lobo went toe to toe with Superman when he was substantially powered up shortly after Return of Superman (when his body couldn't get rid of solar radiation and shortly before he exiled himself to space)...

How much stronger Supes was at that time, and where Lobo really falls in relation to that Superman or Doomsday would be pure conjecture, but at the end of the day, both Maxima and Superman showed the ability to take shots from him in pretty protracted battles.

Yes, DOS Doomsday came off as stronger than Superman in that story. That said, pre DOS Superman also got dropped quickly by Barda and by John Stewart.

The point is, I think you can make a reasonable argument that DOS Doomsday is stronger than Herc, but I also think you can make a reasonable argument that he isn't, or that if he is its by a very small amount. I think Thor and Herc have on average been depicted as stronger than Superman had been to that point in post crisis continuity, though after DOS Superman continually seemed stronger over time.

All in all, I don't think Herc would be as dominant over Guy as Doomsday was, but mostly because he's not that fast. Guy's later reaction vs. the Eradicator on how hard Eradicator hit underscores it.

Herc wins this pretty solidly, and yes, I think Herc could take on Superman, especially DOS version and be pretty much an even fight with a good shot at winning.

Doomsday is stronger than Hercules

Hercules may be a strength peer of Lobo, but he's not DOS Doomsday class, the guy was overpowering Superman, Maxima and Manhunter at the same time and overloaded Booster's force field (which was pretty uber).

Nor does Herc have Doomsday's speed or durability. However, Lobo, a peer of Hercules did have some good showings against Guy.

Close fight, but...

Guy had a pretty poor record against Lobo back in the '80s and early '90s. Has Guy improved since then? Because I don't regard Lobo as being stronger or more skilled than Hercules.

Well, he's done great against EP

He fought Firelord evenly head to head, back when Firelord was fighting Surfer evenly.

He got angry and obliterated an evil version of the Surfer.

He fought Frankie Raye Nova evenly.

Kly'bn couldn't beat him.

All these guys have versatility on par with GL's, and all but Nova I'd pick above Guy.

Also, compare how guy did against a 'brick' in Death of Superman. Yup, Doomsday demolished Guy. Herc would be a closer fight, because Herc wouldn't be as fast as DD, but similar on the strength and durability scale.

The lantern

Think I would back almost any Lantern against Hercules, and Guy Gardner is more than middling in that company at least.

Sure, Herc is supposedly in Hulk's class, but I've never seen anything special from to elevate him from a poor man's Thor without a hammer.

He's just a ground-bound brick.

I think Hercules win

I know it was a possible alternate future, but much like he fought Frankie Raye Nova, I think he does similarly with Guy.

Or, picture the fight between the JLA and DOS Doomsday. Herc isn't that fast, but the fight is kind of similar...similar strength and durability, and Guy is SO straight forward, that Herc is going to get his hands on him.
