drugs & pop

THE POP MUSIC SCENE IS AN 'INDUSTRY OF COOL' AND MUSICAL ABILITY HAS NO HOME. DRUGS HOWEVER, WOULD PROBABLY IMPROVE A LOT OF THE MORE ANAL, I'M-SUCH-A-PRETTY-BOY MUSICIANS. TAKE AWAY THEIR HELIUM GAS AND WATCH THE **** HIT THE FAN. BUT ANYWAY, EVERYONE KNOWS ITS ONLY REALLY ABOUT JUGGLIES, MONEY AND DESTROYING ANY SHRED OF SELF ESTEEM AND CHILDHOOD HAPPINESS YOUNG KIDS HAVE LEFT.

Which Drug Has Inspired The Worst Pop Music?

I voted for "Other" and I'll gladly specify:
Unfortunately these creatures don't really seem to need drugs (in the conventional sense) at all. They seem to get plenty high on egotripping into their small worlds where they are all "flawless", sucking money from all the gullibles while being "happy, shiny people".

The people who need the drugs are the fans.

If you don't like the Doors you're a TWAT

Drugs = Quality tunes

Anyone who doesn't do drugs is incapable of producing good music - end of argument.

drugs + music = self indulgence

I do drugs and listen to music and I think it goes well together. In fact, it goes perfectly together. Look at most of the counterculter's revolutionary speakers like Abbie Hoffman and musicians like Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Grateful Dead, and the Beatles that opened the minds of thousands because of thier personal experience with such drugs as cocaine, pot, and LSD. Most of the greatest American people that "changed the world for the better" did drugs. Lets start with George Washington and his Hemp Plantation, America was built upon the thoughts of freedom and with that came more and more limitations that stopped "freedom" from becoming just that... free. Obviously, most of the people that don't like drugs and music or disagree that they go along have obviously never experienced any mind altering drugs.
Everyone does drugs though. It's the mind altering ones that people concider real drugs. I hope everyone here knows that every single prescription is a drug, every cold medicine, and every diet pill is a drug too. cold medicines have barbituates that is concidered a schedual one drug, vicadins and valuims are opiates/ heroine with other chemicals, and most diet pills are really cocaine or speed/ any amphetamine. So most people are constantly on drugs. The government makes them illegal because they want to monopolize the drug economy for their own personal human testing. Did you know that the MK-ULTRA project coded bluebird is still going on today experimenting with drugs like LSD, Cocaine, and even ritalin. They then, experiment on subjects (who mostly don't understand the drugs long term effects and some who are forced to do this against their will) and when a drug has been tested enough, they bring it to the market. Then other people like ADD children or ADHD children are forced (sometimes against thier will) to take this drug ritalin.
All i'm asking with all this education is that people open thier minds up. I'm tired now though.

Alcohol

While it is true that all drugs have contributed to the sea of **** that is pop music, few groups reached the levels of pretension achieved by the godawful Doors, and Jim's favorite drug was booze. Under the influence of Jim Beam, Morrison was able to convince himself and lots of other morons (Oliver Stone, for instance) that his drunken ramblings about screaming butterflies and blue buses made him a second Rimbaud. The Doors are directly responsible for all those illiterate boneheads who not only produce godawful crapola, but believe they're "artists" on top of it.

Drugs

Oh common - all you fools that voted for Marijuana and Ecstasy are tripping on that stuff yourselves. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is a perfect example of the true bad song writing drug - LSD.

And anyone who thought that you could be crap just by smoking the good ol' Nicotine is either still at primary school, having nap times after story time, or they are just plain inept.

Elvis WAS a junkie

Elvis died of an overdose of Barbiturates! That man was straight, but you couldn't say he was drug-free.

What about Tea and Coffee?

I would like to say that there has been a gross omission in this poll - the caffienated hot drink products used by the majority of musicians, tea and coffee.

If rock stars really did take narcotic drugs constantly, they wouldn't have time to write teir music - they'd be too wasted to see the page.

The world of Rock n' Roll woudl be nothing without a kettle and a teapot - why do you think teaboys always get promoted?

So, who's with me? (and who's against)...

ECSTASY

Ecstasy, without a shadow of a doubt, has helped create the worst NOISE I've ever heard...techno.Glowsticks, pacifiers, Vicks inhalers...come on kids. Marijuana has helped along Pink Floyd, without whom none of your synthesized sounds would be possible. Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, CLASSIC music.

ecstasy

Well, it might be a relatively new member of the neighborhood, but X has already generated some pretty stupid clothing styles and a large group of people who seem unaware that they look very stupid in them. Think it over...troll dolls, glowsticks, vicks in the pocket - right? Toss into that mix the whole trance/UK 'progressive' obsession with cashcow Global Underground DJs and who can argue?

Caffeine

Surely caffeine has inspired the worst music? Think of all those stuffy traditional pop music writers sitting in their stately home at the piano with a nice cup of tea in a nice china cup.

And of course... "my tea's gone cold am wundrin why-I" I AGREE TANYA. REMOVE ****Y FEMALE SONGWRITERS. "Life ooh life oo-ooh-ooooh li-i-ife ooh life. something about to-o-oooast." **** off.
